AUGUST 2005 : In August 2005 , Congressional Quarterly’s Craig Crawford is quoted on the website of MSNBC to the effect that top WH officials have destroyed incriminating emails . The possibilty of White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales and/or White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card informing these officials that the Feds were 12 hours away from demanding all relevant material in the nascent CIA leak probe was specifically referenced in Crawford’s report....... February 1, 2006 : CIA Leak Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald wrote defence lawyers representing Scooter Libby the following letter as described by journalist James Meek of the New York Daily News : " Fitzgerald said in a letter to Libby’s lawyers that many emails from Cheney’s office at the time of the Plame leak have been deleted contrary to White House policy.." February 15 ,2006 : In an interview with Fox News correspondent Brit Hume Dick Cheney , for the first time, asserts authority to declassify intelligence pursuant to an executive order issued by Bush , March 25, 2003 . Was Hume told by Cheney or a surrogate to bring up the rather arcane subject of a vice-president’s authority to declassify intel ? .................. The work-week of February 13- 17 th : "White House discovers ' and turns over Cheney emails. They are described as "explosive and may prove Cheney played  an active role to discredit Plame Wilson's husband , former Abassador Joseph Wilson..........The sources added that the emails could prove Cheney lied to FBI investigators when he was interviewed about the leak in early 2004...... Cheney said he was unaware of any effort to discredit Wilson or unmask his wife's under-cover status to reporters.........
