Greens blockade Developed World’s dirtiest power planet - Hazelwood, Victoria, Climate Criminal Australia

Climate racist First World countries like climate criminal Apartheid Australia are polluting the common atmosphere of the Earth and threatening Africa and Asia with a Climate Genocide this century that will kill 10 billion non-Europeans as surely as if nuclear terrorism-linked Apartheid Australia got its UK, Apartheid Israeli or US pals to drop thermonuclear weapons on African and Asian countries.

While African, Asian, mega-delta or Island nations have not yet taken action to curb climate racist, climate genocidal Apartheid Australia, decent ordinary Green Australians have taken the step of mass civil disobedience against the Developed World’s dirtiest coal burning power plant, Hazelwood in the Latrobe Valley of Victoria, the dirtiest state of climate racist, climate terrorist, climate gencodia, climate criminal Apartheid Australia.

About 500 decent, pro-environment, pro-Planet folk demonstrated on Sunday 13 outside the Hazelwood power plant in Victoria’s Latrobe Valley. With a colourful array of street theatre and placards they demanded the closure of one of the world’s dirtiest coal-fired power stations. The demonstrators were met by 250 police who patrolled the site with horses, cars, jet skis and helicopters.

When some demonstrators trued to scale the out perimeter of additional security fencing they were tackled and arrested. 22 were arrested with 21 charged with trespass and 1 other also charged with allegedly assaulting a female police officer (according to the Age newspaper “Allegedly, the female officer was thrown backwards when trying to subdue the man after he jumped the fence”. Australia is the world’s biggest coal exporter, gets 92% of its power from burning fossil fuels, and is also a major exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) that is Exported and thence burned to produce CO2 .

Climate criminal Australia under the pro-war, pro-coal, pro-Zionist, anti-Planet Rudd Labor Government makes a disproportionate, world leading per capita contribution to man-made greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution and hence to global warming.

In vain top climate scientists have begged the Australian Government to respond to the worsening Climate Emergency with urgent cuts to Australia’s huge GHG pollution. However it is Business As Usual (BAU) for racist Apartheid Australia under an extreme right wing, pro-war, pro-coal and racist Labor Government, which has taken capitalism to an utterly unacceptable genocidal level .

Apartheid Australia is a world leading greenhouse gas (GHG) polluter but both the major parties (Opposition Liberal and governing Labor Liberal, essentially like the Republicans and Democrats, respectively) are committed to Business As Usual (BAU) in relation to its world leading coal exports and GHG pollution.

The Australia Government, with Opposition support, has passed Renewable Energy Target (RET) legislation that extraordinarily includes (or does not exclude) about 10 non-renewable energy items as renewable energy e.g. methane from coal mines is regarded as “renewable energy” (!) Further, the Australian Government has proposed a Carbon Trading Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) called the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) under which Australia’s Domestic and Exported GHG pollution will actually increase by about 80% on 2000 values by 2050.
