Ignoring the Will of the People and Logic Itself: Democrats Won’t Try To Impeach President

Some House Democrats, including ranking Judiciary Committee member John Conyers Jr. of Michigan, have called for impeachment hearings into allegations that Bush misled the nation about Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction and that he violated federal law by approving warrantless wiretaps on Americans. In an interview with The Washington Post last week, Pelosi said a Democratic-controlled House would launch investigations of the administration on energy policy and other matters. She said impeachment would not be a goal of the investigations, but she added: "You never know where it leads to."

GOP activists seized on the remarks to warn potential donors of Bush’s possible peril if Democrats pick up the 15 net House seats they need to become the majority. The National Republican Congressional Committee republished The Post’s Sunday article in a letter to supporters and donors that stated: "The threat of the Democrats taking the majority in the House this November is very real."

Some Democratic activists criticized Pelosi, saying she made the party appear extreme while drawing attention away from more useful issues such as gasoline prices and Republican lobbying scandals.

Daly said Pelosi never considered impeachment a priority. Republicans "are in such desperate shape," he said, "we don’t want to give them anything to grab on to." He said Conyers agrees with Pelosi’s thinking.

Seeking to choke off a Republican rallying cry, the House’s top Democrat has told colleagues that the party will not seek to impeach President Bush even if it gains control of the House in November’s elections, her office said last night.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) told her caucus members during their weekly closed meeting Wednesday "that impeachment is off the table; she is not interested in pursuing it," spokesman Brendan Daly said

  • ITS PART OF THE ONE PARTY SYSTEM.....Joe Lieberman has only voted 4% with the "Democrats" and Steny Hoyer only 6% with the "Democrats", Diane Feinstein only 30% of the time with the "Democrats"......and these people are "Democrats".

  • Impeaching Bush means also for the majority of democrats: impeach yourself.

  • At this point, not to choose means choosing against. Is this not Democrat Party complicity in Bush’s genocide?

    • To reiterate what 72.190 has already mentioned: The Dims and the Repukables are different wings of the same power structure, a power structure that does not hold the interests of the American people as its highest priority. indeed this power structure, or the ruling ’elite’ holds its own parasitic survival as its first priority, its second priority is the further enrichment of its masters, who will in turn reward these subservient political ’leaders’ with more wealth, more privileges and more power, all at the expense of the American people, particularly the middle class. The events of the last five years more than proves this statement.
The events of the last five years we as a nation have seen a power hungry President steadily encroach on our freedom using the transparent excuse of a bogus ’War on Terror’, and believing that this false war gives him a ’God’ given right to violate countless checks and balances found in our Constitution, a document he swore to uphold but he secretly regards as an impediment. In effect he has called our nation’s most important safeguard to our freedom, the Constitution of the United States a ’goddamned piece of paper’. He has accumulated more power than any other modern President, and he has done this without hardly any opposition from what is supposedly should be the ’loyal’ opposition in this country, the Democrats.
To sum up, this country has hardly any one in Congress that is willing to defend its interests, barring a couple of dozen of fine leaders from both parties who have shown that they hold their nation’s interests to be far more important than their political survival. I’m talking about the Feingolds, the Spectors, the Grahams, and the Ron Pauls, the Murthras, the Cynthia McKinneys, fine leaders all, but I’m afraid they represent less than 10% of all Congressmen and women. The rest of Congress is a den of vipers who have disguised themselves for so long in the robes of noble leaders, a disguise that now has become transparent in their attempts to white wash this unprecedented assault on our civil liberties. The American people should take note now as to who really has their interests in mind, and Congressional leaders who do not see that is time to remove this demented man from office before he commits irreparable damage to our nation, are simply not our leaders. Indeed they are a huge part of the problem and should be removed from office as well come November.

How can any one in their right mind put their trust in any President who regards our Constitution as an impediment? Who in their right mind can put their trust in a President who has seen fit to violate 750 laws? Go to:

      http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2006/05/03/hearing_vowed_on_bushs_powers?mode=PF

Who in their right mind can continue to support a President who so obviously has demonstrated to all that he believes he has the right to become Dictator? I will tell you who: the brainwashed people working for the Federal Government, most of the military, the vast majority of so-called ’journalists’ in the US mass media,[in reality well paid propagandists] and the vast majority of our political class, both Democrat and Republican. All of these subgroups have been fed and nurtured by the same Mother, the Federal Government, since at least their college careers.

American politics in this country has been nothing but a giant, hi-tech puppet show, a multi-media Punch and Judy show, where we see these puppets, the Dims and Repukables, battle each other out, appealing to the left and to the right, with the same tired cliches, the same unimaginative dribble that somehow passes for ’analysis’ in our country’s media, when all the while they have been directed by unseen puppet masters. It’s time we tore down this pathetic puppet show, it’s time we tore down the curtain that hides this duplicitious Wizard’s corrupt machine. Come November we can start anew. Come November we, the whole nation, can begin a Glorious Revolution, and win back our democracy. Come November we will remember our Founding Fathers legacy of real freedom. Come November we vote INDEPENDENT.
