Interpol removes Kosovo premier from list of wanted persons

Released : Mar 24, 2006 5:55 AM

PARIS-Interpol has removed Kosovo’s recently named prime minister from its list of wanted persons because of his new status, the international police agency said Friday, though Serbia still accuses him of war crimes.

Interpol included former rebel commander Agim Ceku at the request of Serbia, but reviewed the case after Ceku was elected prime minister by Kosovo’s parliament earlier this month.

Interpol informed its member countries and the U.N. mission in Kosovo late Thursday that Ceku had been removed from the list, an Interpol official said.

The U.N. mission in Kosovo, which has said it does not recognize the Serbian warrant against Ceku, welcomed the decision.

Ceku and Hashim Thaci, also wanted by Serbian police, were leaders of the now-disbanded Kosovo Liberation Army, the guerrilla group that fought Serb forces during province’s 1998-1999 war. Both are now part of U.N.-sponsored talks to resolve the future status of the disputed province.

  • First of all, Agim Ceku was not a REBEL commander but a TERRORIST who, besides Kosovo, fought against the Serbs also in Croatia.
Neither Kosovo Liberation Army was guerrilla group, but GROUP of TERRORISTS, who commited crimes on both sides (Serb and Albanian). They didn’t hasitate to kill their own people just to achieve their cause - independent Kosovo.
It’s a big question - what kind of organisation became U.N. which is now helping war criminals, not only not to be caught, but also to win something that no country in the world would accept to happen in its soil - independence of part of its territory ( in this case, it’s Serbia).
Today it’s Serbia, tommorow it will be YOUR country.

P.S. Who is this Henry that wrote this article???

    • Ceku fought agains the Milosevic army wherever needed and he did very good job on that. Of course he fought Serbian terrorists because they fought dirty wars against civilians. Why would someone acuse him? Criminals are dying in the Hague and others are still in trial. Ceku is an honorable Albanian officer, and he doesn’t play dirty as his adversaries Serb generals who are now being tried for thei crimes, committing suicide etc.

      Cheers!

  • Agin Ceku was accused of committing war crimes by an illegal organization to be more precise the parallel security structures which operate illegally in the territory of Kosovo.
The warrant for his arrest should have never been taken under the consideration by Interpol since the courts in Serbia if possible would arrest all Albanians in Kosovo since we are all considered terrorists for demanding our freedom and independence
It is sad that Serbia even today after a century of wars that they started is still is calling for more violence.
