Now, Democratic Senators, will you please draft articles of impeachment?

Parties Governments USA

To all U.S. citizens in the bellaciao community:

I urge each and every American citizen reading these pages to write, email, phone, meet face-to-face, use the Goodyear Blimp, whatever it takes, to ask your senators, in the strongest tones possible, to write articles of impeachment of the President of the U.S.

We have more than enough evidence that this president has deliberately committed acts of treason, willful neglect of a planning and recovery, and depleting the funding of the Gulf Coast region, directly or indirectly causing the deaths of thousands of American citizens, lying to get us into an illegal war, approving acts of torture in Iraq, exposing the name of a CIA operative through a columnist, need I say more?

The other crime is that no one at the top involved in any of these disasters has been held accountable. No one. Thus does the president act as if he is above the law. He is, right now, actually above the law because no one has held him accountable for anything.

Nor has anyone held Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzalez, Bill Frist, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, et. al., accountable. For anything. Smearing national heroes, turning fiction into "truth".

This man is now a liability to the neocons and his own party. But the time to act is now. I also urge the Democratic U.S. senators to filibuster this nomination for Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. If they do not, I am through with this party.

  • Hey, johnnybgood, don’t leave, just stay mad! We need more of the people to get mad and take action and urge others to do so. If you leave, you set an example for others!! I loved your words. Especially where you were the first I have seen to finally evoke the name of the ONE person responsible for the most horrible condition of the Unites States of America today - KARL ROVE. Of course, if he had not intimidated and conned so many people on his way up the ladder of success(?)(as defined by him), he would never have received the backing to have gotten this far. Do not forget he is the one who turned the state of Texas from Democrat to Republican in the 1990’s. He actually gets to set the tone of international as well as national policy for us. The President does his bidding. Doesn’t anyone get this? Even in 1995, he and Rumsfeld took an idea for invading Iraq to Bill Clinton who turned it down. But they got Bush aka Rove to implement it. Read your history.

Everything that has happened has all of the earmarks of the sociopathic Rove who does not have any conscious for the havoc he rekes on the American people (using Bush to do it) - especially what is left of the middle class and all of the lower class - the upper class is left untouched with their tax cuts.

Guess this would be a good time for him to request Louisian be turned over to the Federal Government for control. Then the Republicans would have their foot in the door to be able to really cast blame on how badly the state and local government handled everything. Typical Rove maneuver. Hopefully Gov. Blanco will not bend to this intimidation even though the suggestion has already been made and Mayor Niger has turned New Orleans over.

When all of you good citizens go for the throats of your Congressmen and Representatives, please do it with a good knowledge of what you are asking and why. But do go ask. As johnyybgood says, "write, email, phone, use the Goodyear blimpt, etc." but do it, damn it!! The squeaking wheel will get the grease. They cannot fight all of us or shut ALL of us up. And this is our country and our people they has screwed with this time!!!

  • I had no idea that President Bush was powerful enough to stop a hurricane. Who knew? As for not funding the levees around New Orleans, that underfunding has been ongoing since even before Bush was president. The article is pretty laughable and is so transparent that the loony left will use any excuse no matter how silly to get rid of Bush.

    • You poor soul. You just see what you want to see. Label insted of listen. I didn’t realize I had said Bush caused Katrina. Please don’t flatter yourself as a sarcastic, funny, all-knowing, superior being. You are the reason we find ourselves in this calamitous predicament.

    • You should take that same counsel you gave me and turn it on yourself. Your whole article is about seeing what you want to see and the only one whose been labeling is yourself. You have zilch for information to draft any respectable article much less draft articles for impeachment.

    • Hey, bootlicker righty, how come you’re not over in Iraq "establishing Democracy?" Wimp, blowhard, just like Bush.

    • I need to stay stateside to make sure asswipes like you don’t ruin things.

  • If one does their research, one will find that it is not just the Republicans that are screwing the American people. The Democrats and the Republicans take their orders from the wealthy of the world. In the 1930’s, the US went bankrupt and we were all sold to the beast. That beast has had control for 60 plus years. Their time is running out, God will intervene.

When impeachment proceedings start, it should go on down the line to those in Congress, who have stood by and allowed all of this to happen. It is Congress who enacts law and it is Congress that has enacted laws that have screwed the American people. WE THE PEOPLE will demand a goverment that rules with our Consitution and Bill of Rights, not a Congress that is bedding with big business. It is time that the people take back the government, to be for the people and by the people.

  • Bush isn’t a criminal, just a bad president. He isn’t an evil mastermind. He just has the wrong ideas about how best to run the nation. He’s made some glaring miscalculations, to be sure. I think to call for his impeachment is a little absurd though. The war in Iraq is probably illegal if you believe that the U.S. is bound by international law, but congress gave Bush the authority to go to war. Other than that there’s just no proof he’s done anything illegal. Sadly our party doesn’t have the unity to overthrow him and his conservative cohorts. I don’t think the way to do it is with blind rage.
