Oaxaca People’s Assembly (APPO) demanded on Saturday that Governor Ulises Ruiz resign his post before November 25 or they will undertake new actions against him in all the Mexican states.

Flavio Sosa, leader of that organization, reported at the national meeting of trade union, academic, artistic, social, and political organizations with the APPO, said Ruiz should be ousted, when "the legitimate president takes up his post."

He called on those who joined the Oaxaca social movement to turn popular rallies into a peaceful, humanist and democratic revolution against neoliberalism, as a great leftwing mass movement, and achieve victory in that way.

The attendants, coming from all states of the country, signed a letter of demands and promised solidarity, not only verbally, but also with actions.

The meeting had the objective of exchanging ideas and reflecting on an urgent call in Oaxaca’s defense, to achieve immediate dismissal of the local Executive and the Federal Preventive Police, which entered the state’s capital 20 days ago.

They warned that the resignation of the state governor does not mean a solution to the conflict, which began 184 days ago on Saturday, but a condition to start a deep transformation process.
