The Phloggers are "phlogging" the legend of Pat Fitzgerald to heights unseen since the days of Camelot ........Had these mental midgets been around during the Hoover era they would be neoconning' about you on the marvels ofCrime-fighter’ J. Edgar Hoover and before that , ’Mob-buster’ Thomas E. Dewey ........... What has Fitzgerald done in this case ? ...........Not a hell of a lot ......... Scooter Libby has been indicted on what he told a federal grand jury regarding his conversations with journos , Russert, Miller, and Cooper ............Rove faces the prospect of being indicted on what he told a federal grand jury regarding his conversations with Matt Cooper of TIME. ......... Do I give a damn about what he told journalists ? ........ No ! ...........Why do you ? ............Why does anyone give a tinkers damn about gossip exchanged between various establishment grandees ? ........... Rove , Libby and others , if the evidence warrants such a finding , should be charged with disclosing classified information to those not entitled to receive it ....... Obstruction of Justice and Perjury counts should be secondary or tertiary issues surrounding the greater crime .......... If Plame was a covert agent , her identity was classified information and should not have been disclosed to members of the media ........... What is Phlogger-Demigod Fitzgerald doing ? .......He’s protecting the first source who disclosed this information to reporters under the rubric innocent accused ' ...........That's preposterous because "innocent accused" disclosed this information not only to Bob Novak but Bob Woodward - in a conversation he had with the debauched journo in mid June, 2003 ...... Twomistakes’ ? .. Gimee a break .... Think of this ...............The CIA Leak prosecutor is protecting the leaker ! .........Not a cooperating witness , but a brigand who refused to disclose to a federal grand jury that he was Woodward’s source until he was outed by Woodward ! ......... More on Demi-god Fitzgerald can be accessed here : http://www.alternet.org/story/19046 http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0507-05.htm http://www.law.com/jsp/article.jsp?id=1052440877677 PS , not surprisingly we also gather Fitz loves the Patriot Act - a fact the phloggers conveniently `forget ’ ........

  • Where on earth did you get the idea Fitzgerald loves the Patriot Act? If he had used the Act to go after Libby and others, they would be doing prison time by now. But instead he used RICO!

So please stop spreading bullshit-God knows there is plenty coming from the corporate owned media. I come here to avoid that.

    • Two sources for Fitzgerald’s undue fondness for the "Patriot Act" are here:

"CHICAGO : The Chicago City Council overwhelmingly passed a resolution Oct. 1 denouncing the USA Patriot Act and calling for the repeal of those parts of it that violate the U.S. Constitution. Chicago thus becomes the 179th city or county in the United States to pass such an ordinance, and the largest city to do so. Three states B Alaska, Hawaii and Vermont B have passed similar measures.

U.S. Attorney for Northern Illinois Patrick Fitzgerald, obeying Attorney General John Ashcroft’s order to defend the Patriot Act, gave a long and inaccurate defense of the Act, causing laughter when he admitted that he himself really does not know what all is in it. Fitzgerald then received a harsh grilling from Aldermen Moore and Lyle.

Between the hearing and the vote six days later, opponents of the resolution worked to derail it. These included not only Fitzgerald but also Chicago’s conservative Democratic Mayor Richard M. Daley and the powerful Chicago Tribune newspaper. The day before the vote, the Tribune afforded Fitzgerald the privilege of a lengthy op-ed piece, in which he repeated the majority of the misleading statements he had made in his testimony too late for any printed rejoinder. And then we have Fitzy himself speaking thusly:

      "_PATRICK J. FITZGERALD
      UNITED STATES ATTORNEY
      NORTHERN DISTRICT OF ILLINOIS
      PREPARED REMARKS FOR THE
SUBCOlvMITTEE ON CRJME, TERRORISM, AND HOMELAND SECURITY
      COMMITTEE ON THE JUDICIARY
      U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
      APRIL 28,2005
      INTRODUCTION
Mr. Chaimlan, members of the Committee, thank you for asking me here today. I very
much look forward to this opportunity to discuss with you how the efforts of the United States Attorney’s Offices in the investigation and prosecution of terrorists have changed since the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act (“Patriot Act”) and, in particular, section 218 of the Patriot Act which helped to dismantle what was formerly known as “the wall” between intelligence and law enforcement. I will state up front that I firmly believe that the Patriot Act contained the single most important and necessary- change in American law as it effects national security over the last decade, and that is section 218, which played a critical role in ending the artificial "wall" between intelligence and law enforcement personnel. As a prosecutor who has worked on terrorism matters for over ten years now, I thank you on behalf of federal prosecutors, FBI agents and the public for that long overdue change that has made America safer. • Section 218, which played a critical role in ending the artificial "wall" between intelligence and law enforcement personnel

The only section he was familiar with is the one he was specifically addressed. Now he knows what’s in it or he wouldn’t be using RICO to go after the cabal. One section does not make the other 300+ pages...that proves nothing, except that he had not read the new law.

A fair minded person is inclined to change their mind, once they are in possesion of new facts or the entire Act, as the case may be.

I believe from the cases he has prosecuted in the past, (and as a professional myself) he is fair and aside from the provision he discussed would be appalled at knowing an American citizen could be held indefinately, without trial or hearing, by having their citizenship stripped from them as directed by the president.

    • Let’s hope Mister Fitzgerald has come to a fuller understanding as to just what harm the "Patriot Act" can do to citizens. I’d like nothing more than to see him emerge as a "Champion of the People" in his current role as Special Prosecutor.

But there is this troubling material from Peter Dale Scott given in testimony to "Congressional staff, July 22, 2005" as follows:

"Congress should determine the true relationship of the U.S. Government to Ali Mohamed, who was close to bin Laden and above all Zawahiri, who has been called the “main player” in 9/11.[31] (Al-Zawahiri is often described as the more sophisticated mentor of the younger bin Laden.)[32] In particular Congress should determine why Patrick Fitzgerald chose to mislead the American people about Mohamedos FBI status."

      AND:

"Fitzgerald must have known he was dissembling. Even the mainstream account by Daniel Benjamin and Steven Simon (The Age of Sacred Terror [New York: Random House, 2002], 236) records that ;When Mohamed was summoned back from Africa in 1993 [sic, Mohamed in his confession says 1994] to be interviewed by the FBI in connection with the case against Sheikh Rahman and his coconspirators, he convinced the agents that he could be useful to them as an informant.5 Cf. Lawrence Wright, New Yorker, 9/16/02: ;In 1989 ...Mohamed talked to an F.B.I. agent in California and provided American intelligence with its first inside look at Al Qaeda.5 Larry C. Johnson, a former State Department and CIA official, faulted the FBI publicly for using Mohamed as an informant, when it should have recognized that the man was a high-ranking terrorist plotting against the United States. In Johnson’s words, “It’s possible that the FBI thought they had control of him and were trying to use him, but what’s clear is that they did not have control” 5 (San Francisco Chronicle, 11/04/01)."

Can it be that Fitz does not understand WHO created al Qaeda or Osama bin Laden? Or is he being "featured" as the sterling figure elected to take down the Bush administration if and when the "secret team" (to use a Fletcher Prouty expression) decides that a "new" administration is in order?
The parallel to Nixon and Watergate was commented upon by John Dean:

"While I have no reason to believe you are easily intimidated, all I can say is that your investigation, thus far, is falling precisely within the narrow confines — the formula procedure — that was relied upon in the first phase of the Watergate cover-up by the Nixon administration."

Let’s all hope Mister Fitzgerald is a true Irish Lancelot!
