Edito Wars and conflicts International Attack-Terrorism

It’s not about caving in to terrorists, it’s not about wanting a lack of morality, and it’s not about hating Republican voters. It is about wanting the freedom of choice as individuals over our lives that a democracy is supposed to allow. It’s about not shipping jobs overseas and destroying the economic foundations of the middle class and impoverishing millions of Americans.

It’s about having every citizen’s vote count and be counted fairly. It’s about killing people in defense only. It’s about not having a dead sterile planet with a runaway greenhouse effect. It’s about getting off Mid-East oil and onto domestically produced energy where the money spent on energy stays at home and the Arabs can worry about their own security if they want to blow each other up all the time. It’s about not having our constitutional rights shredded and our media controlled by the government.

You can’t take on terrorists effectively by blowing up countries, you have to go into the shadows after them and root them out directly.

Iraq is becoming a huge recruiting drive for the terrorists.

We were told Iraq was being attacked because they had weapons of mass destructions and were on the verge of attacking the US. That is what Bush and his crowd said. You can’t hide that, you can’t make us forget that, and we are not going to let you forget that. It was pure bullshit.

The weapons Saddam had are millions of tons of outdated conventional bombs that were considered obsolete by the countries that sold them to him. We should be busy destroying those, but at the rate we’re dealing with it it will be a hundred years before it’s done.

We put Saddam Hussein in power in the first place, and then we used him as a surrogate for the real terrorists, and by the way we’ll get the oil if the Iraqis ever stop blowing up the pipeline. Oil that will pollute our skies further and feed our addiction.

George Bush is pulling a fast one on all of you, and you will all now have to find out the hard way. Mark these words: YOU HAVE BEEN DUPED.

  • Politicasso, do YOU ever wonder why more than half of the people in this country disagree with the dems?

    • I would sincerely like to hear from Republicans about the war on Iraq. What is your thinking concerning the issues that you strongly believe in. How do you feel for example about the way the war in Iraq is going. I don’t mean in general terms but specifics. What are your fears for the Iraqi people, what are your hopes for their future. What do you have honest misgivings about. How do you feel about the people of Iraq.

It is a war after all, surely you have some personal thoughts and individual concerns about this war. Please let’s hear how you feel. If we, Democrats, are ever to understand each other we are going to have to start listening. And before that we are going to be able to listen we need to HEAR from the Republicans. So, Republicans. How do you perceive this war on Iraq in terms of human suffering.

    • All the time I wonder. It’s kind of like "why don’t they get it?" Wouldn’t doubt it’s the same for Repubs. Where is the common ground? There has to be some, it’s not like any of us hate our country, just some of what happens in it. We can’t disagree on everything. -

    • Did you ever notice that the puke headed media never reports any of the good things that go on over there. They all must be Demacrats and liberal at that. War is never a good thing, but is a nessessary evil at times.

Number one: all of the Dem’s voted to go to war on the same information that Pres Bush used, including the two "Flushed John’s", the Clinton’s, the Kennedy’s and so on. The only reason they went against it was to gain votes. Appeal to the women to get their votes. After they voted for the war the two "Flushed John’s" voted against the money to support our troops that are under fire. Just to get votes. That is dispicable. Now pull your heads out of the sand. Why vote for a war and then vote against support?

Number two: The media sucks. They are all dem’s and liberal’s. They only report the bad stuff. They never report the good things, such as US soldiers teaching the kids how to play baseball. The soldiers handing out thousands of school bags to the children in classes. What about the power that has been restored to more places in Iraq than had power before the war. YOu never hear about that. All you hear about is kill rate. The Dem’s are into death and lose but don’t give a damn about life. do you ever here about the soldiers helping the Iraqi people. Hell No!!!!!

Number three: Kerry was going to betray our soldiers in Iraq just like he did in Nam. He fratanized with the enemy after he got out of Nam. That caused the enemy to treat the POW’s worse than they already were being treated. Kerry and Hanoi Jane Fonda should both be flogged for their efforts in Nam. They can both go to hell.

Number four: If we weren’t fighting the insurgents over there, we would be fighting them over here. Would you rather have all of the terrorists over there concentrating there efforts on the armed forces, or would you like them over here bombing biuldings and killing innocent people. Pull your head out. Get a clue. War sucks but it is a nessecary evil.

    • Why when a ’liberal’ person asks politely for information do they get so many angry, name calling ’conservative’ responses? Do you people know how to speak without calling names?
The question was "What do you feel about the war? What do you feel about the Iraqi people?"
The answer was a mishmash about war being necessary. A necessary war is repelling invaders from your soil. (as Iraq is doing to us, now.) It was not necessary for the USA to invade Iraq. Even if the lies of WMD had been true, that still had nothing to do with fighting terrorism, since Saddam Hussein and other Iraqis were not the people who attacked us.
The media, owned by the rich white men in the USA do not report anything that might damage the money machine that feeds them.
They don’t show the pictures of dead children in piles, the pictures of grieving women whose houses have been destroyed, whose families have been killed. They do not even show the dead AMERICAN children, also called soldiers.
Every American should hang their head in shame, we were fooled, we accepted the lies too easily, we attacked a sovereign nation who had not provoked us in any way, and that is criminal. We are guilty. Perhaps the world can forgive us if we quit now. It is a sad thing to think that the world is laughing at us...but even worse is that they aren’t really laughing.

    • Stop being so condescending. FYI both sides have used rude language. And the poster answered the question his way, why are you dictating to him how he should answer? Your post is exactly why people came out in droves to vote republican for the presidence, governorships, and in both houses of congress. You keep that up and you will see your party increasingly marginalized.

    • So true about our media, they always say they try to be objective but they consistently portrayed our military in a negative way which attracts even more animosity towards them and puts them in further danger. After the debacles regarding the missing bombs and attempts to discredit Bush’s service in the National Guard, their credibility has really plunged. I salute the blogs for creating a more balanced information atmosphere.

    • The road to fascism was paved in the same manner that the present criminals in power are doing . Only YOU are too STUPID and IGNORANT to realize it. Your Valhaala is sitting in front of the Boob-Tube watching Sunday afternoon football and enjoying a george bush dinner, a pretzel and a six-pack of cheap beer, because that is all you will be able to afford after he raises your taxes to pay for his war in Iraq, and elsewhere he wishes to send your kin, not his, to die.

    • "Why vote for a war and then vote against support?"

...Ah because the war is going badly - for everyone. Because we no longer have the support of the Iraqi people. Because we cannot continue to destroy cities and kill civilians in order to "flush" out the bad guys. This makes zero sense. It makes even less sense to the people who loose life, limbs and family members.

"They never report the good things, such as US soldiers teaching the kids how to play baseball"

...Why would anyone teach children to play baseball in a war zone? Do they bring kids into the green zone to teach them to play sports? How does that actually work? Did you ever stop to think that maybe this is a little bit naive to believe that soldiers are running bases in this cluster bombed, sniper riddled country.

"What about the power that has been restored to more places in Iraq than had power before the war. You never hear about that."

...because it simply isn’t true. If you looked at an actual news report or read anything about this war, you too would know at least that much.

"If we weren’t fighting the insurgents over there, we would be fighting them over here."

...How would that work? How would they get themselves and their explosives here. Why would they come here. They don’t want our land, they want our soldiers out of their land. Out so they can be free to run their own country, or at least what is left of it.

"Get a clue. War sucks but it is a necessary evil."

...Once again, you haven’t thought this one through. Yes this war is evil but no this war was never necessary.

    • I find it frightening, amazing, and deeply saddening that the conservative respondents who are so on-fire that they respond with hate and venom, are so self-righteous they cannot express compassion, so narrow minded that they are unable to comprehend a self evident truth, are also so ignorant they can’t argue their own cases.

I am embarrassed that the rest of the world now thinks America has the government of its choosing. I am concerned that the voices of thinking, intelligent people in this country will be overshadowed by the incessant drumbeating of media-hyped moral platitudes and adolescent -type pep rally chants.

I am more sure than ever that we are on the wrong path under the wrong leadership. How can we work together when we are miles apart in what we know and understand. Ignorance is the key.

We can’t discuss issues or make compromises until we educate the uneducated. Those that learn only from headline news cannot make sound decisions about this country’s future. This is about breaking down the barriers that prevent good people from making good decisions. Ignorance is a correctable state.

’’ Wise statesmen ... established these great self-evident truths, that when in the distant future some man, some faction, some interest, should set up the doctrine that none but rich men, or none but white men, were entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, their posterity should look up again at the Declaration of Independence and take courage to renew the battle which their fathers began....’’

    • I don’t know about Politicasso. But I wonder about that all the time. So please enlighten me.

    • We are fighting this war for one reason. Israel wants it. The US is now a colony of Israel. Israeli spies swarm the Pentagon and the State Department, some of them making policy, ordering US troops overseas to fight wars for them and the media (largely Jewish controlled) says nothing. We need a president in 2008 who will throw all Israeli, all Arabs and all illegal aliens from everywhere out of the country. Bring the troops home from Iraq and line them up along the Mexican border with bayonets pointed south. But Bush is too gutless to do this because the the Republicans want to suck up to the Mexican Catholic anti-abortion vote. Oh for an American president.

  • I guess you never read the news. John Kerry and John Edwards both voted on going to war. 80% of the Dem’s voted on going to war to remove Sadam from power. Now why are they all against it. The two John’s went against the war because they wanted votes. Their Dem rival was winning some votes. That’s where the imfamous line from Kerry came in. Sure I voted for the $87 Billion before I voted against it. Even Kennedy, the two Clintons and all the liberal pukes voted for war. Now they are against it. What if Clinton was the one to start the war? Would all of you knotheads still be against it. Hell no!!!!

You all need to pull your heads out of whatever hole it is burried in. If we weren’t fighting the war over there, there would be more terrorists over here. They all wanted Kerry to win because they knew he would be a pansy push-over. If he is willing to vote for a war and then vote against the money to supply our troops with the nessessary supplies they need, they know they can come into our country with ease if Kerry won.

Now on the gay marriage issue. If the liberal judges get their way the moral fiber of the country would go to hell faster than a snowball melting in Arizona in summer. The liberals and Dem’s have no morals at all. Why so you think God destroyed Soddom and Gamora. They were practicing gay sex, multiple sex, bi-sex, all the evil practices of an evil generation. Gays should have no rights as far as God is concerned and as far as I am concerned. God said to stone them to death because it is an abomination.

    • The following are early reports (July, 1989) of what became a very messy, very embarrassing scandal for the Reagan-Bush administration. High ranking Republicans and conservatives were named and linked to a HOMOSEXUAL CHILD PROSTITUTION RING run by Washington power broker Craig Spence who threw numerous boy-toy parties for powerful people in Washington. His party palace was bugged and had two-way mirrors to ensnare visitors into compromising sexual encounters. He committed Suicide but not before things got very hot in Washington.
This brings new meaning to the term Republican "Party".

The Washington Times; Final Section: A Page: A1 Friday, June 30, 1989

...Craig Spence a 48-year-old D.C. power broker has been linked to a homosexual prostitution ring currently under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Its clients included several top government and business officials from Washington and abroad.

...Among the clients identified in hundreds of credit-card vouchers obtained by The Washington Times - and identified by male prostitutes and escort operators - are government officials, locally based U.S. military officers, businessmen, lawyers, bankers, congressional aides, media representatives and other professionals.

...After arriving in Washington in the late 1970s, Mr. Spence was hosting parties during the early Reagan years attended by, among others, journalists Eric Sevareid, Ted Koppel and William Safire; former CIA Director William Casey; the late John Mitchell, attorney general in the Nixon administration; conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly; Ambassador James Lilley; and Gen. Alfred M. Gray, the commandant of the Marine Corps.

The Washington Times; Final Section: A Page: A1 Friday, June 30, 1989

...Republican and conservative political leaders reacted cautiously yesterday to a report in The Washington Times that key Reagan and Bush administration officials are ensnared in a federal probe of homosexual prostitution.

...."There’s no reason for cleaning anybody out (of office because they used homosexual prostitutes)," said Leslie Goodman, a spokeswoman for Republican National Committee Chairman Lee Atwater.

...a top Labor Department adviser to Secretary Elizabeth Dole resigned yesterday after acknowledging to The Times that he had procured male prostitutes and was subjected to blackmail threats by one of the call boys.

I believe the passages you are referring to are: (Leviticus 18:22) and (Leviticus 20:13)

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind...

There are no Christians, no matter how fundamentalist, who believe that Christians are bound by the Levitical laws. So why would you choose to focus only on this particular passage of Levitical law?

Should we also put to death people who commit adultery (Lev 20:10)
Should we put to death children who curse their father or mother (Lev 20:9)
Should we put to death people for blaspheming God’s name (Lev 24:10-16, 24:23)

Or have we moved on from condemning and killing people for their private business.

In the New testament, Christianity excludes no one. (This makes for a stronger argument if you keep in mind that homosexuality was very much a part Greek culture in those days).

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female, for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
      Galatians 3:28

While you might try to argue that in Apostles Paul condemned homosexuality it is widely known that it is not homosexuals he is condemning, rather the common Roman practice of older males ’keeping’ young boys for sexual exploitation, which he is right to condemn. Some could argue this is something we should remind some GOPs about.

There is one commandment above all others. You should keep this in mind. I think you missed His message.

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
      Mark 12:31

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
      Matthew 19:19; 22:39

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind, and thy neighbour as thyself.
      Luke 10:27; cf Mark 12:33

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
      Romans 13:9; Galatians 5:14; James 2:8; Leviticus 19:18

    • Nothing says Love Thy Neighbor like a loaded A-K 47....
