Pro-war lobby rally at Bush ranch

by Jennifer Monroe

CRAWFORD, TX — (OfficialWire) — 08/22/05 — Supporters of the illegal war in Iraq and it’s aftermath, began arriving over the weekend in Crawford, Texas. About 350 members of the Texas chapter of FreeRepublic-passionate apologists of George W. Bush and the Bush administration-rolled past a large group of peace activists who have been camped-out near the president’s ranch for more than two weeks.

Not surprisingly though, none of these Bush-Bikers were taking advantage of the opportunity to enlist in the U.S. military-thereby really demonstrating their support of the Bush administration war-policy. Those too old to ’support the troops’ in person, appear less than eager to sacrifice their children so that Iraq can be free. Funny that.

Therefore, I’m calling on all real supporters of the war in Iraq and the continued military activity in Afghanistan, to volunteer as "Substitute Soldiers"; I want you to join the military today so that soldiers on active duty who do not share your enthusiasm for killing can come home to be with their families. Tell the recruiter that you’re joining so that someone can come home.

Be sure to ask the recruiter to write-in "Substitute Soldier" in Section B; Item 8(b) of the U.S. military enlistment form, otherwise they will not honor your request.

Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Sadr City, Iraq, on April 4, 2004 is currently in California to be close to her mother, who suffered a stroke, though she is expected to return soon.

Sheehan, 48, traveled to the president’s ranch after Bush said that fallen U.S. troops had died for a ’noble cause’ and that the mission must be completed.

"I want to ask the president, ’Why did you kill my son? What did my son die for?" Sheehan told reporters. "[Last week], you said my son died for a noble cause’ and I want to ask him what that noble cause is?"

Sheehan has been joined by more moms who have lost a child in Iraq and other military families and thousands of Americans from every walk of life. The group of supporters has been growing every day.

Meanwhile Bush continues his vacation, refuses to speak with Sheehan and refuses to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq-meaning more moms will lose a child.
