—As my heart bleeds I’m filled the more with pain—

Besides the loss of life, the unattended injured, the harried displacement of citizens into questionably ’safer areas’ while escape routes have been blocked, a fractured infrastructure that cannot provide the most basic of needs such as water, food, utilities, medical care; with the tailored destruction of those grand buildings of Muslim worship, combined with every other totally unacceptable action committed under the false veil of humanitarian need, the United States is not engaged in WAR, it is engaged in the CALCULATED DECIMATION of a society which, ironically, had started to crumble due to it’s direct relationship of decades of American interference in the first place.

The experiment has failed. The studies are in. One cannot mold an enviornment to suit ones needs by constructing a head of state, grooming him for greatness, allowing him a stature that unfortunately evolves into one of unlimited power, then cry foul when the entity it has created comes to realize he doesn’t need you anymore, thus shunning your influence.

This can been applied to both Saddam Hussein & Osama Bin Laden.

The problem here is, the United States does not have the capacity to see the experiment has failed. They are in the worst stage of denial: the stage that blames the victim.

In this denial, instead of closing the books on the experiment, or allowing some other body to study what went wrong, in an effort to fix the problem it created, the United States has instead operated under the immature notion that they are the victim. In the dust and haze of years of fallout, time can skew all truths.

This has now escalated to their mistaken belief that they have the exclusive right to pre-emptively deal with those they perceive would do them harm.

Thus, the cycle never ends. It won’t end in Fallujah. It won’t end in Ramallah. It won’t end in Iraq! Unless someone comes up with a specific goal-oriented solution they will once and for all deal with rouge member nations that usurp the final rulings of those international bodies they are party to, the one thing we know for certain is that this will happen elsewhere, again and again.

While it is true that the United Nations has been studying these issues in depth, trying to find the definitive means that will allow 21st Century solutions to 21st Century problems, as these studies come in it becomes woefully apparent that questions of standard juridical approaches have no model that will lead us towards swift resolutions when handling the complex disputes we are facing today. Still, these studies are providing some interesting roads we might follow.

In discussing the challenges of juridical institutions and security in relation to the fight against the impunity of political actors, France’s Brigitte Stern offers that "decisions [of the ICJ] can set precedents that will slowly shape the customary law that binds States."

Hopefully, a continuation of this type of thinking will soon allow the United Nations the ability to quickly move forward in the handling of all cases of aggressive behavior—with a main goal of setting such precedents that will, in effect, make all countries think twice before preemptively acting against the sovereignty of other nations.

But, for Fallujah—all of Iraq—today, the stark reality is that we have yet to set precedents. So, in Iraq tomorrow, prayers, hopes, cries, fear, outrage are apt to still go unheard. As the whole world watches, our vision fades to gray.

  • One of the problems facing the United States will be the dicotomy of having destroyed so much of the country. The fact remains that there are small pockets of Iraq, in smaller towns, where there are some ongoing efforts towards reconstruction, so you are apt to find the people in these regions are willing to go along with an intervention that is showing some results. These are the ones the right-wing media are basing their claims on when telling Americans that we are welcomed with open arms.

    Then, flipping the switch, you have cities like Fallujah, larger by scale with greater populations,
    who have had enough. They have dead bodies on the streets, no medical care for the wounded, and are presently under an evening curfew that orders any male between 15 & 65 (something like that) out during curfew shot on sight. Without water, food, existing under a near-constant barrage of explosions: How csn we expect to be welcomed enough, in the end, to provide any reconstruction?

    The people on this forum like to rant, yet few have the ability to provide added insight.

    America is in big trouble, yet, all they can offer are complaints.

    • Why don’t you research the facts of how Hussein got into power in the first place? Find out the how’s and why’s our government groomed him, to secure his place as the ruler of a country we had designs for. Find out the mysteries behind our ’sitting back’, while ’closely watching him’ become a tyrant. Note that the ’war plan’ for Iraq was formulated years before even the first Gulf War. Study these things, before coming to the conclusion that American has no culpability here. Why not get off this site for a few days, and get some insight for your next post.       Why would the Media need a strategy in relation to Blair’s impeachment? Let’s study this in a nutshell:

      Well, because the citizens of the British Isles are so totally upset that Blair has sent British subjects to fight and die alongside Bush’s subjects in Bush’s illegal, amoral war. They want Blair’s head. From England will come daily "BUSH THIS" & "BUSH THAT" & "UN THIS" & "UN THAT" & "WAR CRIMES THIS" & "WAR CRIMES THAT" and, well, alot of evidence is going to be submitted, proven, all with BUSHS/AMERICA’S NAME on these documents.

      Now let’s consider how the Americn public will react. Oh, wait. The strategy is not ready yet. The government, in conjunction with the media, needs to decide how to prevent our citizen’s from getting similar ideas. They must figure out a way to suppress the PROVEN FACTS OF WAR CRIMES that will flood the airwaves and daily papers, lest Middle American come to the conclusion they’ve been lied to. The strategy will undoubtedly have an arm extended that will find FoxNews, et al, leading the findings into denatured directions.

      I have alot of friends who keep away from the SPIN. I find it fascinating. Everytime I watch I feel like a behaviorist studying the criminal mind.

    • Hurray! Saddam is gone. Iraq is ours to do as we will. We now have our own source of oil in the middle east and the Saudis can all go to Wahabi hell. The Iraquis will be our slaves and no one can stop us! Yea! God is great!

    • Well 20 years ago, the great Reagan planned all this. He knew that we had to get rid of Saddam the dictator. But he had his hands full with Qaddafi. So he had a plan. A plan that he only shared with Bush senior and Bush junior. The plan called for the downfall of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria and North Korea. Bush senior was responsible for taking down Iraq, but he didn’t have enough time, so they tabled it during the Clinton years but encourage the terrorism to give the Clintons another distraction. Bush Junior managed to take down Afghanistan and Iraq because of 9/11. In another three years, the plan calls for Jeb Bush to become president in the year 2008. Jeb will be responsible for taking down Iraq in his first term and Syria in his second term. Twenty years from now the plan calls for the Bush girls to become president. The plan calls for Barbara to become president first and take down Saudi Arabia during her two terms. The Saudis are a big project and it’s going to take eight years to bring them down. Then after Barbara’s stint, Jenna will be the next president and will take down North Korea. North Korea has oil but no one knows it yet but Reagan and the bushes. They will siphon off all the oil from North Korea and then annex it to South korea after most of the oil is gone. Reagan has had this plan for many years, he pretended to be an alzheimer’s victim but he was really pulling the strings. The only thing that went wrong was that Bush senior poisoned him because he was tired of taking orders from an actor.

    • Saddam was our man, we counted on him to do our dirty work in the Iran Iraq war. We supplied him with WMD of the nastiest sort biological weapons as well as conventional, our good alli the UK gave them the chemical weapons he used on the Kurds. When our man Saddam killed the Kurds with the British chemical weapons both the US and the UK pretended it didn’t happen, and when others pointed it out the press neglected to report that his gas was supplied by the UK. It was only when Saddam double crossed Bush Sr. and threatened to stop accepting dollars for oil that he got himself in trouble...then he tried to reclaim Kuwait which had formerly been part of Iraq, thus the Gulf War, after that we disarmed Iraq and had sanctions against them for 12 years which resulted in 1 million Iraqi citizens dying from lack of medical supplies and even food. Yes Saddam was a pig that did not care about his own people...once we were certain that he had no weapons of any consequence we attacked Iraq for the oil and other resources. The sad part is that Bush is no better than Saddam, he doesn’t care about his own people either, he lets these young people in the military fight this disgusting oil war and die so that his corporations can prosper. And even worse he has so many Americans fooled (thanks to the corporate owned media propaganda machines who are also in the weapons business) they are actually defending the bastard and advocating mass murder of these innocent people to further Bushco’s cause and profits. Its all out there to be known for anyone who cares to know, for the rest of you stick your heads in your Bible and try to find passages that confirm that God would want Bushco to do this for him. Ignorance is bliss it is easier to go with the party line just ask the Germans who did nothing but applaud and cheer this same behavior and tactics with their Hitler.

    • What is the mental state of the people we have in uniform? Are they graduates of the Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Combat, Nam ’67 School of Military Training? Take no prisoners? Humiliate them with the stripping down of Muslim women? Etc...........

      The stories today are worse than can be imagined. Even some of the spin media is reporting some brutal acts by our military; it seems we have some guys with guns who have that "take no prisioners" attitude.

      On top of this all, Condi is taking Powell’s place, the CIA is ridding itself of it’s anti-Bush faction...day by day it looks as if we are gearing up to stay put. Hello! I even heard the tail end of a report still discussing the spreading of democracy in the Middle East—the mission appears to have only just begun.

      From the look of things, the way we are conducting ourselves can only lead to a stepped-up offensive against us. Some of these warnings are nuke in nature. We have to be out of our minds to add amoral acts to our war portfolio, along with the blocking of humanitarian aid.

      It does not appear that we are going to be able to avoid a draft.
