Newspapers-mags Discriminations-Minorit. Religions-Beliefs Europe

Dear UN Secretary General

I am writing to you asking you to act, according to your responsibilities, to stop the waves of insults and sarcasms about the Prophet Mohamed that are appearing in European media under the slogan of “ freedom of expression”. We all know that freedom must extend freely until it must stop where and when it offends other people. The insulting cartoon images published by the Danish newspaper Julland Posten and republished by other Swedish and recently by the France Soir newspapers are deliberate insults to the whole Muslim world. In spite of the requests of huge numbers of Muslims for apology , the Danish government and Danish court have failed to act in a way that shows they respect Islam, freedom of belief and dignity of Muslims and their respect for holly symbols. That arrogant refusal, which came under the cover of “freedom of expression” has initiated hatred among peaceful living community of the Danish Muslims as well as Muslims in the whole world. The escalating events have caused great damage to the relations between Danish people and Muslim counties.
In such hot issues some other parts ( outside the Muslim world and probably from those who motivated publishing of the insulting images ) may go to violent actions against Danish people and then accuse the Islamic activists of being terrorists !. Therefore the UN should act promptly to :-
1- Stop any media from offending or insulting any religion, belief, or religious symbols of all state members in the UN.
2- Stop any action that will provoke hatred and unrest between nations of the glob.
3- Adopt a resolution that prohibit insult or even sarcasm to religions or religious symbols. This may be similar to that taken regarding the holocaust.

Dear UN Secretary
We have seen your immediate response and comments about violent events that had occurred in the middle east, when the accused actors were Muslims. The whole Islamic world, of more than 1 Billion Muslims, is now waiting your actions towards the above issue !.

  • The saying goes: ’the freedom to make a fist ends where another’s nose begins.’ In the case of the cartoons, the publishing of such makes no such impossision on the freedoms of others. The only way that the publication of the cartoons could be considered an impossion of muslims is if Muslims were forced to view the comics. This never happened.

So, c’mon islamists, join in on our reindeer games. Nothing is considered sacred in the west. As soon as you realize how insignificant these cartoons were, the sooner you will become stronger.

The fact that you reacted this way worldwide exposes a weekening nerve ending for the rest of the world which might enjoy pressing that button.

    • I’m from the west, I’m not an islamist and I don’t see the importance of teaching folks of another culture our western sense of humor at a moment like this. The problem here is that the caricature was done at a really bad moment and maybe not so coincidentally now that we’re practically setting up another war. The timing looks like a provacation to invite extremists to react. Meanwhile I’m sure moderate muslims are holding their breath and praying. Let’s stop being hypocrites.
