The top two Republicans in Congress caught in an outright lie

A Republican staffer has named Frist and Hastert as the two lawmakers that added the vaccine makers liability protection to the defense bill- after the committee had met several times that day, and Dems even asked Alaska Senator Ted Stevens if the language was in the bill, and he told them no.

Frist and Stevens deny this charge saying the language was in the bill when the conferees voted on it- but if that’s so, why did Stevens tell Obey no? It appears there are several witnesses to the Leaders meeting... this is the top two Republicans in Congress caught in an outright lie, blatantly adding in crap that wouldn’t pass on it’s own.

by Anne McElroy Dachel

In an article by Bill Theobald, published this past week in the Tennessean, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and House Speaker Dennis Hastert are accused of brokering a last minute secret deal just before Christmas to protect pharmaceutical companies from lawsuits over vaccine damage. This provision was added to a "must-pass" defense spending bill without the approval of members of the House-Senate conference committee. Wisconsin Rep. David Obey and others signed on to the bill after being assured that the liability provision would not be included. Frist denied any wrong-doing and said the indemnity was necessary as an incentive for drug companies to produce vaccines for a possible bird flu pandemic.

This is not the first time Frist has inserted pharma protection into legislation. In 2002, Frist anonymously added a rider to the Homeland Security bill that protected major Republican donor Eli Lilly from damage suits over the use of thimerosal, the mercury-based vaccine preservative. Congress was forced to repeal the measure after a public outcry later.

This repeat of the 2002 rider makes it clear that Frist is intent on protecting pharma interests and not the welfare of the American people. A growing number of parents, reporters, doctors, and scientists are now linking the use of this untested vaccine additive to an epidemic of neurological disorders among our children. It may not be law suits over potential damage from a bird flu vaccine that has pharma worried, but vaccine damage already done to a generation of children exposed to deadly mercury in their vaccines.

Thimerosal has a pathetic history. It was tested once over 75 years ago by the company that invented it, Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical. They studied the effect it had on 22 adults dying of meningitis. The patients were all dead by the end of the experiment, but amazingly, thimerosal was pronounced "safe" and later grandfathered in after the creation of the Food and Drug Administration.

In 2004, amid the growing controversy over mercury use in vaccines, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention directed the Institute of Medicine to produce a study clearing thimerosal. They actually ignored all the toxicological studies showing that thimerosal is a deadly additive in announcing their findings and used easily flawed and manipulated population studies to "prove" mercury is safe when injected into babies. In the last twenty years, we’ve seen a 6,000 percent increase in autism, from one in 10,000 to one in every 166 children. Furthermore, one in every six schoolchildren now has a diagnosis of attention deficit or some other learning disorder. These increases directly coincided with the increase in mercury-containing vaccines in the childhood schedule. The best our federal health agencies can tell us is that these numbers are all the result of "better diagnosing" and "greater awareness."

With eighty percent of autistic Americans under the age of eighteen, this health care scandal is a looming welfare disaster as more and more of these individuals become adults in the coming years and depend on the taxpayers for their support. Because of people like Senator Frist, the pharmaceutical industry may never have to take responsibility for this tragedy.

  • Bravo for this exposure to the truth. There are thousands of us who know these facts are true.

I think a perfect example of COVER-UP is this recent Cheney shooting. Why wouldn’t he come right out and declare the mishap?

Bush & Company (B&C) and great manipulators of the federal agencies and discount any "Good Science". In fact the EPA longstanding head person stepped down when he had to deal with the funny business of concealing information from B&C. It is a known fact that Big Pharma gives 85-90% of their money not to ad’s ...but to doctors. Now, let’s look at the big picture, senators throwing in last minute language to give immunity to Big Pharma. While I do agree many squawked about it, they didn’t appeal it for being down in a decptive way. Instead it’s on the books and we have to live with it. They have the power to OVERRIDE this deal if it was based on DECEPTION. Ms. Dachel points out some facts that are not new, but I guess you have to keep hammering away...and maybe by the 20th time it will sink in.

I understand 25 Senators are trying to fulfill the long-awaited hope of the middle class to poor ...IMPEACH BUSH. Sadly, on 12/30/05 the National Instutite of Mental Health declared autism an EPIDEMIC....did that really resinate with the American’s? News media must also be very manipulated. You only hear of Senator’s Burton and Kennedy trying to advocate change on behalf of the broken families.

I am pretty damn outraged at our elected officials. Unfortunately most have conflicts of interest in earning money off the way the big companies directors make decisions...just like our government.

  • Two federal health agenicies have either been taken over by Big Pharma, or they are a collection of pathetic incompetents afraid to be held accountable for their stupidity - take your pick!

We need to seriously start laying the ground work for taking back our governement.
