Defeat Bush-kissers (Sherrod Brown)_Worse than GOP!

by Open-Publishing - Wednesday 25 October 2006

Parties USA

Harry Truman used to say that a real Republican could beat a phony one — one running as a Democrat — every time. I want to prove the great President right once again.

I predict that Sherrod Brown (running for U.S. Senate) and Lewis Katz — Republicans in Democratic "clothing" — are going down to defeat. I will vote against them myself but for most other Democrats.

Like Mr. Truman, I feel that a fake Democrat and a fake Democratic Party are worse than nothing. By aping the Republicans and taking up slots on the Dem ticket, really the only place for us progressives, the phonies deprive us of a real choice. The "choice" in the U.S. Senate race in Ohio and the 14th Congressional district race, is between two wolves in sheep’s clothing (Brown and Katz) and two relatively honest wolves: incumbent Senator Mike DeWine and incumbent U.S. Representative Steve LaTourette (representing basically the snowbelt country east of Cleveland).

Two recent news articles show that Sherrod Brown and Lew Katz are NEO Cons: Northeast Ohio (NEO) conservatives and just plain cons. It is better for the Democratic party and antiwar and progressive causes if both go down to defeat. Some things are even more important than winning control of Congress, and I don’t think the defeat of these two will affect that. The Bushies have blown the election of November 7, 2006 (mark your calendar) and we don’t need the Katz and Brownie kids.

Congressman Dennis Kucinich of the West Side voted the right way, the opposite of fellow "Democrat" Sherrod Brown http://www.usnews.com/usnews/opinion/baroneblog/archives/060928/roll_call_on_mi.htm , even though Kucinich himself abstained in the House vote to support Israel’s rape last summer (for the impotent George Bush) of Lebanon. Kucinich couldn’t find it in his tiny heart to vote AGAINST the mass bombing and killing of children in Lebanon. The androgenous "Democrat" Hillary Clinton supported the Jewish genocide (against Lebanon) by condemning the *victims* — the Lebanese and Palestinians — thus: She condemned "unwarranted, unprovoked attacks from Hamas, Hezbollah and their state sponsors" and called them "the new totalitarians of the 21st century." [ISR Magazine, Issue 49, Sep-Oct 2006, page 12.] That’s Hillary, whose "only regret is that she has one husband to lay down for her country."

FIRST BROWN

WHY I AM VOTING FOR REPUBLICAN SEN. MIKE DEWINE (while holding my nose): "Actions speak louder than words," the saying goes, and a recent Sentate vote of Sherrod (where did he get THAT name?) Brown shows Sherrod’s true colors: Red (-neck) state (flyover country) rather than blue state (Ohio). Sherrod Brown, though running here, hails from a redneck downstate county. His father was a physician there, and not a very good one in my opinion. Dr. Brown did Workers Compensation work for corporations — and he was not on the side of the workers. (He had a walkdown office in the basement of a red brick building on Penn Ave. in Mansfield.) That also is part of Sherrod’s background. Plus votes in Congress like the following.

In the September 27 vote on the Military Commissions (tribunals) Act, the one win Bush and Rumsfeld felt they had to have, Democrats in the House sensibly voted 160 to 34 against. Unfortunately Sherrod Brown voted FOR, while outnumbered by real Democrats almost five to one. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/opinion/baroneblog/archives/060928/roll_call_on_mi.htm For this — voting for torture and against Constitutional guarantees of a free trial — we should promote the execrable Sherrod Brown to the U.S. Senate? LOL !

Ohio Senator Mike DeWine also voted the wrong way ("for"), but he at least was not betraying his supposed principles. DeWine is an honest wolf and I am voting for him, that is, against Brown. Weeding out the traitors is important, too.

The tribunal bill Sherrod voted for denies persons placed in the hands of the rapacious U.S. military a free trial and allows "harsh interrogation" techniques — waterboarding and other torture already used by the CIA and U.S. Army that used to be illegal. Brown and his ilk have made the outrages of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo legal. http://www.antiwar.com/news/?articleid=2444

Lewis Katz holds no office but is a military supporter par excellence, as we shall see, and I have no doubt how he would vote on issues like this, if elected, which he won’t be. Even though Lew Katz is a law professor at the Case Western Reserve University specializing in criminal law, he is no Lynne Stewart (New York trial lawyer who is going to prison because she believes in the Law and has proved willing to defend even the despised). Militarist that he is, Katz probably would have voted for the "Military Commissions."

Here’s how Michael Barone of U.S. News & World Report described Sherrod Brown: "Sherrod Brown (OH 13): strong liberal but running for the Senate this year, ahead in most polls; evidently taking no chances (the Post roll call seems to have got this one wrong too)." Barone is saying that Brown voted for torture without trial to whore for the other side of the street — John Conservative — since he already has the real Dem vote locked up. Well, let them have him and let real Democrats vote against him and for (Ugh, P.U.) Mike DeWine. Lots of luck, Sherrod.

LEWIS KATZ — PEDIGREE OF SNOW MAN FROM THE SNOW BELT

VIEW PHOTO OF THOSE OF WHOM LEW KATZ SAYS, "Again, thank you to the men and women who serve this county," AS THEY TORTURE PRISONERS IN THE IRAQ THEY ARE LIBERATING. http://www.antiwar.com/news/?articleid=2444

Lewis Katz will fail in his attempt to replace Steve LaTourette. Katz seems to be a good family man, unlike LaTourette who divorced his wife of many years for an office staffer (female: LaTourette is not of the Grand Old Predators wing).

STEVE LATOURETTE, TO HIS ETERNAL CREDIT, VOTED AGAINST THE "MILITARY TRIBUNALS" (GULAG) ACT — one of the few Republicans to do so. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/opinion/baroneblog/archives/060928/roll_call_on_mi.htm Here is the Wikipedia article on him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_LaTourette

From here it’s all downhill for his opponent, Democrat Lew Katz.

Here is an excerpt from Katz’s campaign website. The guy removed it from his home page after I called him on it, but it is at: http://www.katzforcongress.com/index.php?itemid=84 .

Support our Soldiers — Past and Present Rally

Saturday, one hundred veterans and families gathered in downtown Willoughby to rally for past and present soldiers. As a former Spec-4 in the Army Reserves and a former Lieutenant in Navy JAG, I was overwhelmed with pride and honor when I was asked to host the event. Four veterans shared their stories and talked about the struggles of coming home. Organizations such as the American Legion and the VFW are invaluable for those men and women because the transition from military life to civilian life is very difficult. This day raised awareness of the importance of these organizations and the daily struggles of our men and women when they come home from the military service.

Events like this are so important. Our country has made mistakes in the past by not appropriately honoring and respecting soldiers by putting aside our political differences and recognizing their sacrifices. This event promised not to be political, and it delivered. The rally received enormous support and turnout.

I would like to send out a special thanks to the following people: Mike Lebowitz, Tom Labadie, Sam Trost, William Eville, Jim Trettin and the American Legion Post #214, Eastlake VFW, and the University of Akron Army ROTC who provided the Color Guard. Everyone’s efforts added to the success of the event.

Also, I would like to thank Tyrone’s Blues Sinsation for donating their time and equipment in honor of the troops. The weather was beautiful and the music was very fitting in the way it transcended generations providing entertainment for all.

Again, thank you to the men and women who serve this county.

Does this sound like an antiwar background or an antiwar candidate? Or does it sound like a militarist who, despite being a Case Western expert on criminal law, probably would have voted with Sherrod Brown for military kangaroo courts and U.S. Army torture?

What’s a nice Jewish "progressive" doing at a PRO-war rally like the one mentioned above?

How do you think Lew would have voted on Israel’s bombing holocaust against Lebanon last summer?

One thing Lew is after in Iraq is the oil, and the war against Iraq is a war for oil:

"Much of Iraq’s importance in the world market is tied to its oil reserves, but due to the current instability, outdated technology, and vast unexplored areas such as Iraq’s Western desert, it is impossible to determine accurately how much oil Iraq possesses. While OPEC conservatively estimates Iraq’s oil reserves to be the third-largest in the world with 115 billion barrels, some believe Iraq may have the largest oil reserves in the world."

That’s basically the Katz plan for Iraq, quoted from his website.

Then there’s Israel. Would Lew Katz be against Israeli power over U.S. foreign policy? I think it was the late civil rights leader Ralph Abernathy who, when asked if he was in favor of Black Power, answered something like, "Do I look like I would be against it?" Based on his military background, does Lewis Katz look like an antiwar candidate?

Mr. Katz says that he would always act in the House of Representatives according to what is best for U.S. interests. Maybe, but he would be under tremendous pressure from the pro-Israel lobby. This is not to be construed as anti-Jewish (I don’t say "anti-Semitic" because Arabs are Semitic people also, as most people overlook) or against the candidacy of Jewish candidates in general.

Jewish Americans need to be recognized for important contributions to progressive causes like justice and opposition to war. They have made great sacrifices for this. I am thinking of that late, great Jewish American defense lawyer William Kunstler and his protege Lynne Stewart. Also, you want a Jewish lawyer or doctor: Part of this great tradition is dedication to professions as well as justice. I even think they are God’s chosen people. However, the government of Israel (like ours) is unremittingly evil in its service to our own government. The Israeli people doubtless want peace, almost to the last man, woman and child.

But Katz is an American and a militarist as shown above. Not a man of peace.

Consider the roster of leading neocons, mostly Trotskyite leftists posing as rightists (the turncoat turns both ways). There are plenty of Christians as well as Jews on the list. http://www.holology.com/neocon.html The "faith" they have in common is militarism, and Lewis Katz shares that.
