As a former Republican, I would never support Peter King and Joe Lieberman

Every morning, I check the stats on my blog to see which articles are resonating with my readers it helps me focus on what issues are important and issues that are not. As I checked the stats this morning, my jaw dropped as I saw that my piece “February 15th, 2003: Little did we know” was read by 444 people. You may ask why this surprises me. I have written for sites such as VHeadline.com which is read by thousands around the planet, but my blog is not read by nearly as much and as of late the hourly stats are in the low double digits. I can accept that since I am trying to build the readership of my blog one reader at a time.

What this does tell me is that Iraq remains as the single most important issue to my readers and hopefully with the American people. I do hope that this issue will be the very issue that throws the Republican majority out of power. I opine that not out of partisan politics, but in hopes to save lives.

When I read of the deaths of our soldiers in Iraq, my first thought is that they did not have to be there in the first place and I am quick to anger at the Bush administration for taking their lives and leaving family and friends to grieve a lifetime.

I am also quick to anger when I see politicians such as Peter King and Joe Lieberman approve of Bush’s ‘stay the course’ policy in Iraq. Do these men know what war is all about? Have they served on any battlefield? Do they know what it is like to actually take the life of a human being? Those soldiers that come back to us broken not only in mind and spirit do. In a past piece, I quoted former Senator Bob Kerry who actually served in which he stated “I thought dying for your country was the worst thing that could happen to you. I think killing for your country can be a lot worse. Because that’s the memory that haunts.” I would like to ask Peter King and Joe Lieberman what will haunt the minds of those that do come back to us needing our help.

As an American it should turn everyone against these men as our veterans come home from Iraq have to fight for any and all benefits they rightly deserve. They answered a call, and when they are not taken care of, what are we saying to them? More importantly what are ‘stay the course’ politicians saying to them?

For those of you who do not know this, Denzel Washington has heard the cries of those coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan and has done what he can to help them. Where are Peter King and Joe Lieberman? Why isn’t the mainstream news media showing the American people these images? Warning some are graphic.

Lies, culpability and acting as co-conspirators did this to our veterans and it is up to all of us to support them on Election Day in throwing out the Republican leadership.

As people gather to listen to the likes of King and Lieberman, these politicos act tough, but when it came to serving their country, they failed. What credibility should any voter give them on Election Day? Again, it is an example of talking the talk, but not walking the walk.

In the past, I have received the most heart breaking emails coming from veterans who fought in past wars pleading with me to tell their stories. They did so to send a message that they are angry at Bush’s use of our military for his self-serving desire for power and greed. Some have literally gripped me with immense sorrow and with a growing frustration that their stories are not being paid attention to.

When I have seen supporters of Bush rip into former Senator Max Cleland, Congressman John Murtha and Senator John F. Kerry, these chicken hawks do not know what it is like to crouch in a fox hole to escape enemy fire and to live to tell of it.

Not all do come back this way, some come back wanting to tell all of us that we do need a change of course and for that they are heroes. In this current race for who controls the congress, there has been an increase of Iraq War veterans willing to risk everything once again and run in many congressional races in hopes that their message will be heard.

To my fellow Americans, do you want to actually support the troops? Then vote for these candidates. They know of what they speak unlike King and Lieberman.

Now let us move onto our use of depleted uranium in Iraq. Where are King and Lieberman when it relates to our use of it? In fact, where is the mainstream media? Are they showing the American people exactly what this deadly agent can do to the most innocent of this planet, the children? No, these well-coiffed anchors can sit there spouting off Bush propaganda as mothers in Iraq are petrified to give birth to deformed children.

Just so that you know what Peter King and Joe Lieberman support, this is exactly what they support. This site shows the affects that depleted uranium has on innocent Iraqi children. Again, I want to warn you that these pictures are graphic.

In a letter last night to Elizabeth Hamilton who writes for the Hartford Courant in a response to this article written by her: Last Call’s Early for Joe as Hecklers Crash the Party, I wrote her my thoughts of it as you will see below.

I read your piece “Last Call’s Early for Joe as Hecklers Crash Party” and Joe Lieberman deserves far more than heckling. What he deserves is condemnation for his immoral support of this war.

What the main stream media often does not cover is what is really going on in Iraq and that is our use of depleted uranium.

I have seen pictures of its most innocent victims and those are Iraqi children. I have seen just how horrifically deformed they are. Our use of depleted uranium causes cancers and birth defects. No protective armor for our soldiers can stave off the affects of this deadly agent. This agent has a half life of 4.5 billion years. Currently many Iraqi women are petrified to give birth and this is the damage that has been done to the Iraqi people. It not only affects Iraqis but our soldiers and I have seen images of what it can do their offspring as well. This issue of our use of depleted uranium has not been brought to the attention of the voters, or the deadly images that I speak of.

We have also used a deadly agent known as white phosphorus which burns the flesh of its victims down to the bone and I have seen their images as well. They are sickening beyond belief and Joe Lieberman condones this. I read your piece as he was heckled while drinking a beer. Most Iraqis are lucky if they have water to drink. Yes, I have checked into that too. Many suffer from diseases such as dysentery and cholera. Why don’t you do an expose on that before Election Day?

If your paper was to cover the use of these deadly agents as well as publish the pictures, the voters would deliver a landslide victory for Ned Lamont. It is time for the voters of Connecticut to take a moral stand and oust Joe Lieberman from that senate seat.

I embedded the very pictures within that email to her. While some may find me cruel to do that, I find it cruel that politicians such as King and Lieberman turn their back when it comes to the use of depleted uranium. As you will see, by looking at those pictures if you chose to go to that link, is that it affects our soldiers as well. Will they (King and Lieberman) be there to support these deformed infants and children born to our veterans?

I have heard accounts of Republicans crossing over the party line in order to support Joe Lieberman and as a former Republican, I would never do so. Then again, the Republican Party which I once belonged to was far more civil than the one I see today. I witnessed it changing before my eyes and I did not like what I was seeing. It no longer was in its mission statement, the party of Lincoln. I do not think that even Lincoln would recognize this new Republican Party. He would not understand how the members of his beloved party would allow it to be hijacked by neo-conservatives whose only motive is for world domination while putting the needs of Americans second.

If Lincoln were alive today, he would oust folks like Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, Rove and Perle from it. He would rip the crown right off of Peter King and would be abhorred of any member of his beloved party who supports Joe Lieberman.

At one time it was actually fun to belong to the Republican Party and perhaps I will write of that in a future piece. I will give you one example. I was once a member of the Hempstead, NY ‘Young Republicans’ club and we held a fundraiser called ‘Casino Royale Night’ in which we showed the film ‘Casino Royale’. In most fundraisers, a bucket is passed around in order to win the door prize, when it came to the winner of said prize; we awarded the winner an actual door. That is the Republican Party that I do miss.

In closing, I am here as an American first to reach out to the voters to let them know that ‘We the people’ must change the course of this country come Election Day and that means dethroning King and ousting Joe Lieberman.

  • Do you not understand that there is no difference between the Reps and Dems? They just present their deceit in different manners. Write in your vote - don’t vote democratic of republican, they represent evil.

    • There is no difference between Republicans and Democrats. It is all for the love of money. "It is all about money" Get it? It is evil. It starts out at the city level and just gets bigger as the span of power grows. Not all are corrupt, but, most are. Some are much worse than others. They accept dinners, favors, rides, party invitations, small (or big) gifts, plane rides, trips, WOW, even sexual favors, etc. Then comes the tap on the shoulder asking for the vote that the representative OF THE PEOPLE knows is not quite right and is not representing the best interests OF THE PEOPLE. At that moment, he was just bought! It might be for something like voting to change the bankruptcy laws. Now you have just sold out the people for the bankers and money interests. Those small gifts brought huge returns that will endure for years. It is so sick. I am afraid we are all done, through, dead, gone. I think it is just a matter of a short time now. In the mean time, our elected officials stand in front of us suckers and say GOD BLESS AMERICA. To that, I say, What god are you referring to and, "May my God have mercy on your soul!"
