Saddam Faced Death with Dignity

By Peter Fredson

December 30, 2006

One of the changing pretexts for invading Iraq is over. Saddam Hussein was hanged today. The show trial, arranged and orchestrated by the Bush people, carefully manipulated, carefully coached, is now history. Saddam was dignified to the end. We wonder if Bush and Cheney will face the gallows with equal equanimity, or if they will squeal like pigs when their end comes.

The pretext that Saddam was evil and therefore had to be overthrown is now gone. But Bush remains in Iraq and will remain there until his last day in office. His theft of Iraqi oil, his installation of many permanent bases, and the construction of a super embassy from which to dominate the entire Middle East, remains intact until some world court of justice brings the Bush neocons, in an indefinite future, to face the consequences of their illegal and immoral usurpation of power.

We must still worry daily if Bush will seize Iran and Syria as his theocrats planned long ago. We will still see photos of American troops in Iraq with automatic weapons pointed at Iraqi heads, and watch the daily destruction of Iraqi homes, while Bush stammers cluelessly over his next steps. We must still worry about American warships in Arab waters and what pretext they can manufacture to launch missiles and bombs.

So, it is a long way from being over. We will see many Muslim deaths, which undoubtedly satisfy in some measure the crusading desire of Bush zealots to eradicate the infidel from the face of the earth. We will still witness destruction of Muslim homes, factories, and infrastructure under the guise of reconstruction. Our mercenaries, troops, missionaries will still be at the age old game of proselytizing,

And the Bush people will strut and smirk and daily prate about morality in their prayer sessions and wonder where all insurgents are coming from.

  • Saddam’s murder was the most expensive and complex "hit" in the history of political assassinations, and the cost of the contract continues to grow.

  • They wanted to get rid of Saddam ASAP. The amerikkkan’s best solution to the Iraq quagmire went to the grave with Saddam. The US had the chance to say, "We fucked up, here’s Saddam back. Bye bye." But not now. Expect reprisals in the near future and no end to the war (bushie ball’s opus??)

Another thing: if the US is sooo concerned about a terrorist attack close to landmark dates like New Year’s and Halloween, why would they try to provoke it by executing Saddam the day before?????????? Hmmm

  • Saddam killed 148 people with gas purchased from the US

Bush murdered over 650,000 people on a LIE.

    Where is the justice here?

911 was an inside job. Bush is guilty. He should’ve been hung first, along with Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Zachim, Ashcroft and Rice.

Why do the REAL criminals get off free?

    • If you believe that we are living in the last days, then you know that the Devil has but a short time. This will all very quickly get worse and worse until the end of this time arrives. In these days, men will call good bad and bad good. To all this, I say hang on folks, it ain’t over with! Nothing will surprise you.

  • How come this "dignity" never showed up while he was alive? If there was ever a role model for dignity it was Saddam Insane.

I suppose any dictator or tryant deserves pity no matter what horrible things they did in their lifetimes to innocent people, as long as Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld are on the opposing team.

On behalf of America’s enemies, I’m sure they thank you for your continued support and can count on you to be on their teams to fight those twin evil scourges of democracy and capitalism.

    • How very sad....

The Barbaric Bu$hco will pay for what they have done. Funny how they all claim to believe in God, when that gang of thugs meets their maker, they are going to have a lot of explaining to do. Along with so many in this country that claim to be "Christians"....Jesus would disagree.
