She is leading a march / drive from Crawford, Texas, that will pass through Charlottesville, Va., on July 20th. Other leading activists taking part in the march and coming to Charlottesville include Rev. Lennox Yearwood, President of the Hip Hop Caucus, and Debra Sweet, National Coordinator of World Can’t Wait. Also taking part is David Swanson, Cofounder of AfterDowningStreet.org and a Board Member of the Charlottesville Center for Peace and Justice (CCPJ). The route of the march can be found at http://www.thecampcaseypeaceinstitute.org

Participants in the Journey for Humanity share the goals of ending the occupation of Iraq, impeaching Cheney and Bush, restoring New Orleans, and funding human needs at home and in Iraq and Afghanistan. CCPJ is collecting signatures on a petition to the Charlottesville City Council urging it to join over 90 towns and cities nationwide that have passed resolutions in support of impeachment. CCPJ has drafted this resolution: http://www.charlottesvillepeace.org/impeachresolution

Three days after the rally in Charlottesville, marchers will assemble on the morning of July 23rd at Arlington National Cemetery and march to the Capitol Hill office of House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers to urge him to begin impeachment proceedings. Participants plan to sit in, read the US Constitution aloud, and if necessary face arrest. Similar sit-ins will happen the same day in Conyers’ district offices in Michigan.

Also on the 23rd, if the House has not begun the impeachment process for Cheney or Bush, Sheehan plans to announce her candidacy as an independent candidate for Congress in California’s 8th District, challenging Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

On July 6, for the first time, a polling company asked Americans if they want Cheney impeached. A majority of 54% said Yes, and the poll was widely reported in the media. Articles of impeachment against Cheney now have 14 cosponsors in the House: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/cheney2 "Impeach Cheney" is the number 1 video on Youtube: http://www.impeachcheney.org
