PEACE is the only way but silence kills and silence is complicity - we are obliged to at least INFORM OTHERS about gross human rights abuses, especially of Women and Children. What can decent people do about horrendous human rights abuse of Women and their Children around the World?

I am an Artist as well as a scientist, writer and humanitarian advocate. I have an IDEA to empower decent folk - use ART to transmit a message of Peace and Respect for Women and for Mother and Child around the World.

Specifically, I have created a huge (1.3 meters by 2.9 meters) “Scheherazade” painting about the proto-feminist heroine of Arabian Nights (One Thousand and One Nights) fame – it has been created to remind people of the World about Women’s Rights and how they continue to be horribly abused. For an EXPANDABLE IMAGE of “Scheherazade” see: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/162... - you can do YOUR bit for Women’s Rights by reproducing and transmitting this Image and its humanitarian, pro-Woman message to EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

INDIA’S outstanding writer and humanitarian advocate Arundhati Roy and BANGLADESH’S courageous writer, poet and advocate Taslima Nasrin lead the world in demanding that all men and women are born equal and have an inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Yet each year 16 million people die avoidably around the world, about 60% being under-5 year old infants and three quarters being women and their children (see “Body Count. Global avoidable mortality since 1950”, G.M. Polya, Melbourne, 2007:
 http://globalbodycount.blogspot.com/ and
 http://mwcnews.net/content/view/137... ).

More specifically, from the latest UN and medical literature data the post-invasion excess deaths in the Occupied Palestinian, Iraqi and Afghan Territories now (March 2007 figures) total 0.3 million, 1.0 million and 2.4 million, respectively (three quarters being women and their children) and the post-invasion under-5 infant deaths total 0.2 million, 0.5 million and 1.9 million, respectively (largely avoidable and largely due to gross Occupier violation of the Geneva Convention) (see:
 http://mwcnews.net/content/view/148... and
 http://mwcnews.net/content/view/130... ).

The Bush War on Terror is in horrible actuality a Bush War on Women and Children, and more specifically a Bush War on Arab Women and Children, a War on Muslim Women and Children, a War on Asian Women and Children and a War on Non-European Women and Children.

The killing continues while Mainstream media and politicians IGNORE these horrendous realities in a process amounting to egregious, racist holocaust denial. Words having failed, I have taken the continuing advice of my dear Mother and am “saying it in pictures” – creating and exhibiting around the world huge paintings for Peace, Respect for Woman and for Mother and Child.

I have created a huge (1.3 meters by 2.9 meters) “Scheherazade” painting about the proto-feminist heroine of Arabian Nights (One Thousand and One Nights) fame – it has been created to remind people of the World and of the West in particular of this heroine of the Muslim world and of the billion contemporary heroines of the Third World – the women, girls and mothers who day by day attempt to protect their children and families and deal with the exigencies of life on Spaceship Earth dominated by a rapacious First World (for an EXPANDABLE IMAGE of “Scheherazade” see:
 http://mwcnews.net/content/view/162... ).

Peace is the only way but silence kills and silence is complicity. We are obliged to inform others about gross abuses of human rights, following the examples of Developing World heroines, latter-day Scheherazades, such as Arundhati Roy (India), Taslima Nasrin (Bangladesh) and Nobel Laureates Shirin Ebadi (Iran) and Dr Wangari Maathai (Kenya). The Pen is mightier than the Sword – but is it possible that the Brush is mightier than the Pen? On the basis of this possibility, please send the LINKS to “Scheherazade” and its sister Paintings for Peace (see PS below) to EVERYONE YOU KNOW and please feel free to reproduce these images with attribution in the interest of Peace, Women and Children.

PS: HUGE POLEMICAL aand POETICAL PAINTINGS I have created for Peace, Respect for Woman and for Mother and Child include - ART FOR PEACE & PAININTG FOR PEACE -
