Tom Joad Says,
By David Glenn Cox

“Maybe, there ain’t no sin and there ain’t no virtue it’s just what folks does.” Tom Joad said this out of his frustration in response to a world that was going to hell and nobody seeming to care. I share Tom’s frustrations with the world.

I curse George Orwell for his typical British under statement. That our Big Brother would be faster crueler dumber and more incompetent. But that the media would be far more all encompassing and the prettier she gets the uglier she gets. The truth is but a transient but the lie is a resident. The media march their helium-inflated truths down Fifth Avenue past Macys on Thanksgiving yet no one mentions the strings holding those corporate sponsored truths in place.

Why did FOX start it’s own business channel? Because there aren’t enough places to tell lies, of course. The same reason Murdock wants to buy The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones if all the media says so it must be so. This months government employment statistics are hailed by all the media as good news, 166,000 news jobs!
Neil Cavouto of Fox asks, “Doesn’t this prove that it’s time for nay sayers about the economy to just shut up?”

But unreported in all the wild jubilation is that this is the first month in five that the numbers is up. Or that it takes 150,000 jobs per month just to break even with new persons entering the job market. Of the 166,000 over 20,000 were temporary workers hired for the holidays, jobs that shall be incinerated with the Christmas wrapping paper. The new hires for business professionals were up but those numbers don’t reflect the massive lay offs already announced by major banks and brokerage houses.

You see the media have a tough job you are smarter than a fifth grader! If the American dollar loses a penny in value every day, how many days does it take before the dollar is worthless? If a barrel of oil goes up in price a dollar a day, how many days before your economy becomes an economic wasteland? Give up? The falling dollar is good for American exports and nervous fears over Middle East instability and increased demands forced prices higher.

Our system no longer runs on the value of the dollar but the value of the lie! It reminds me of the story about the crowd standing in Red Square as the Soviets paraded, hour after hour of happy dancing children and military hardware while extolling the strengths and virtues of their regime, Finally one person announced, “These parades are so boring! If I had heat in my apartment I’d go home!” Another spoke up,

“If you had heat I’d go with you and bring food” yet another said,

“I’d bring vodka and we could have a party!’

The first man shouted back, “To hell with you both! Your party is the reason I’ve got no heat!”

Like the Soviets the lie becomes the reality until satire becomes telling the truth.
John Stewart on the daily show is making a fortune not by writing comedy but by simply telling the truth.

The political front runners of both parties I wouldn’t trust alone in my house over night. Here’s a challenge, each candidate gets $20.00 they will go to the grocery store and without assistance shop and buy supper for four. Then they will return and cook it without assistance, then they can then tell us what they bought and why.

Second challenge, the candidates will change the oil on an American car within 30 minutes. If you can’t maintain a car you can’t possibly maintain a government, right?

Third challenge, start a gas-powered lawnmower and cut the grass at a typical American home. This would include edging and weed whacking after all if you can’t clean up one yard how could you clean up a government.

But such a challenge would never occur, not because it would expose incompetence but because it would expose their detachment. The candidates aren’t like you they don’t wash cars or push vacuum cleaners on Saturday mornings. The candidates are Caligula, Nero and Cassius and the point is not their differences but their sameness.

Like the Thanksgiving Day Macys balloons paraded past the cheering crowds, no matter what the shape of the balloon or color the balloon or the sex of the balloon. They are all made from they same plastics, sealed with the same corporate endorsements and filled with the same corporate funding as the current bag of gas. Their DNA codes don’t vary one iota.

Because of this the issues of the day become cardboard cut out absurdities. Healthcare for all? The end of the war in Iraq? Tax reform? Not a chance Stan, not until ashes ashes we all fall down. The powers that be pay for this puppet show, the networks rake in millions with drug advertisements, health insurance ads, retirement supplement ads or as I prefer to call it, “Help, I’m F-cked and I can’t get up!”

I guess that’s why I’m poor, too ugly for politics and too honest for Psychic advisor.
So here’s some free bees, no matter who is elected. No serious healthcare reform period, The war in Iraq will go on and the occupation is permanent unless they run us out. Tax reform? Maybe but only if the rich get more and everyone else gets less.
The deflation of the dollar will continue because it helps the banks to manage the huge losses in dollar back securities.

We are going to attack Iran, this one is easy. Not because Iran has nuclear weapons or even wants nuclear weapons but because you have to attack someone and they’ve got oil. During WW1 the stalemate in Europe could not be broken, the answer was to open a new front in Turkey. It failed miserably but Churchill believed to the end of his days that it was the failure of will not of tactics. Like wise in WW2 Stalin demanded the allies open a new front to take the pressure off of the Russians, in Korea there was Inchon. The goal is to break the military stalemate in Iraq and to break the will of all in the region who might resist US power.

You don’t mind do you, if they use our children for power games? To kill millions of innocents to destabilize regions and risk world war for the goal of hegemony? It doesn’t matter because nobody’s asking you! Because the God king, Fuehrer, Overlord or man of steel head of lead has decreed it! And Nancy Pelosi is so dissapointed in Congress but if only she could see it from where I’m sitting.

Maybe Tom Joads right, maybe there ain’t no sin and there ain’t no virtue maybe it is just what folks does and that is what has damned humanity through out our existence. Maybe that revelation frees us though in our course of action because through out history the cure for leadership that becomes detached from the people, that no longer benefits the people, that has no concern for the people has been the detachment of their head from their neck. Metaphorically speaking of course.
