Pinkerton Academy, Former Teacher Face Possible Prosecution After Criminal Complaint Is Filed In United Kingdom

Interpol Liaison handed file by Lancashire County authorities

WireNews+Co recently reported that due to local restrictions in the law, a victim of sexual abuse was prevented from filing a criminal complaint due to that U.S. State’s statute of limitation. According to the Derry, New Hampshire Police Department a minor must file a complaint within 22 years after becoming an adult or authorities are simply unable to act.

Diane E. Kanady (formerly Burrell and Foster, but known as "Debbie") stands accused of having groomed and then sexually abused one of her students during the late 70’s at Pinkerton Academy. Kanady relocated to North Attleboro, Massachusetts, from Merrimack, New Hampshire where she lived after she was fired from her position at Pinkerton.

Pinkerton Academy is accused of the cover-up, having failed to report the crime to police when it happened, although according to Derry Police Mary Anderson, the school’s headmaster, claimed the abuse was reported to "Social Services"—something the school’s lawyer now denies.

The victim, who now lives in the United Kingdom, has filed a criminal complaint in England against Pinkerton Academy and the school’s former IT teacher. The United Kingdom does not have a statute of limitations on such crimes. The complaint has been forwarded to the Interpol Liaison that works with Lancashire County Constabulary.

UK police are in touch with both New Hampshire and Massachusetts police. The decision to prosecute will be made shortly.
