#M18 in Frankfurt: Federico to be put on trial next June #FreeFede

by #FreeFede - Open-Publishing - Monday 27 April 2015

Federico Annibale is a London-based Italian student that, on last March 18, was in Frankfurt - in order to participate together with thousands of other people in the demonstration against the opening of the new ECB headquarters. During the day of mobilization, Federico was arrested; and, since more than a month by now, he is jailed in the Frankfurt prison, awaiting his trial.

His lawyers and friends tell that he is well and that receives and reads with glee the lots of letters of solidarity that are arriving from Italy and England - though, sadly, his stay in jail will last longer. Actually, on last April 9, the judge rejected the request of release brought by the defense, that requested probation for Federico while he is waiting for his trial.

Yet, in the last days, some news regarding his situation arrived: the young student will be taken to trial in early June, and the judge downsized the accusation that was initially proposed by the public prosecutor - for which Federico risked to be convicted to up to 10 years in jail. Now, instead, his case will be brought to a district court that does not envisage convictions exceeding 2 years in jail.

Still, until the opening of the trial and the sentence Federico will have to stay in jail. The invite is to keep supporting him and send him messages of solidarity.
