What Young Angolans Can Learn from Mirco Martins

by Open-Publishing - Tuesday 15 September 2015

Despite his young age, Angolan entrepreneur Mirco Martins has already amassed an impressive bio in the field of business. Yet, he has plenty of other goals on his to-do list many of them will benefit the country of Angola directly. While his successes will no doubt help the Angolans in general, young people in this home country should pay attention to the valuable lessons he could teach.

You Have to Work for It

Martins went abroad for an education in both the United States and the United Kingdom, where there was no preferential treatment to be found. After graduating from college, he took a job with British Petroleum, an international corporation known for asking a lot from their employees. Again, he prevailed.
Now, he has his own conglomerate. While he may have inherited some instincts from his father, Martins has had to work hard to carve out a space for his companies in Angola. Competition, like elsewhere, is fierce.

Angola Has Plenty to Offer

When going to college, Martins didn’t get a degree in something frivolous. He knew he wanted to return to Angola and understood what the country already had to offer in the way of both petroleum and minerals. That’s why he got a degree in engineering before adding a Master’s in business management.
Young Angolans should know they can be anything they want. However, they should also be aware of what is right below their feet. The reason Angola’s economy has done so well over the past 10 years while almost every other has suffered is also because it has many natural resources.

Education Is Key to Success

Without his education, he would never have made all his achievements. That’s why he’s starting a charity, Fundação Kukula, to help young Angolans get a quality education too, despite their financial resources.
The future can be bright for Angola, but thanks to Mirco de Jesus Martins, talented young people here can be especially hopeful. This is especially true if they decide to learn some lessons outlined by Mirco de Jesus Martins.
