Jane Fonda To Tour In Antiwar, Vegetable Oil-Fueled Bus

Actress and activist Jane Fonda said she intends to take a cross-country bus tour to call for an end to U.S. military operations in Iraq.

Fonda said her antiwar tour in March will use a bus that runs on "vegetable oil." She will be joined by families of Iraq war veterans and her daughter.

Fonda was speaking Saturday in Santa Fe, N.M., where she was promoting her book, "My Life So Far." The actress released the book in April, which among other things gave her side of the story in regard to her controversial trip to North Vietnam in 1972.

Prompted by a question from the audience, Fonda said war veterans she has met on a nationwide book tour have encouraged her to break her silence on the Iraq war.

Fonda said she has not taken a stand on any war since the Vietnam War.

Fonda incited controversy in July 1972 when she was photographed sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun while on a tour of the country to drum up support for ending the war.

During a book tour stop in Kansas City in April, a Vietnam veteran spit in Fonda’s face. She declined to press charges.

The actress was recently featured in her first film in 15 years, "Monster-in-Law."

      No, it isn`t a joke, the joke is that (German)diesel engines are ALL calibrated to run on veg oil. the bad news is that a bunch of thugs have got control of the media, and the deposits of crude oil.

      Vegetable oil and fibres can be used for most of the processes that involve mineral oil. Including pharmeceuticals, fibres, fuel oil, foodstuffs, chemicals, textiles...., in fact, if the truth were to be told, crude oil is a noxious poison, carcenogenic, and of course finite.

      Whereas, the supply of vegetable oils and fibres are almost infinite.... difficult to patent and protect though?

      Bio diesel is just a word. Diesel was a man, a franco-german scientist who took vegetable oil as a starting point, and then engineered a system to produce power from that oil.

      The petrol engine evolved from separate research and indeed was a competitor system, which was backed by anglo-american industrialists, as they had access to large quantities of crude petroleum-oil, thus helping, until the supply terminates, to "undermine" the agricultural production of competitor products.

      To the doubters, ....take ANY v.w./audi, mercedes, DIESEL ENGINED ...NOT PETROL, take a deep breath, put a gallon of sunflower oil into the tank, start the engine and experience a great leap of faith, ......Aaaaaaah.....Aaaaah.
      Naturally, check with friends/internet first, but I assure you, the realisation that vegetable oil is the "REAL" thing leads to a lot of questions, ..... and conclusions.

    • OOps, forgot to mention that whilst Veg oil is perfect fuel for diesel engines, if contemplating running 100% on vegoil, then there is a need to install re-calibrated injectors, and a pre-heat system may be needed in colder climes.

      If running permanently on vegoil, then small adjustments must be made to the engine.

    She was ahead of the times in Vietnam and while she may have some regrets with respect to her photo op she was instrumental in saving thousannds of lives. That was a good thing. Vietnam vets dwell on the negative spurred on by the idiot conservative talking heads.

    Think of it this way: If she was instrumental in helping us think of the war in a different way, along with others like John Kerry who also voiced his rejection of the Vietnam war, then her efforts were not wasted.

    • Jane Fonda helped end the Vietnam war. That was a really good thing that Americans have not thanked her enough for.

      We should all be behind her efforts to help bring an end to the Iraq war. Even if we did not perticularly like her movies, or her exercise videos, or her book, we should all like her for trying to bring peace to Iraq.

      It takes much more courage to speak the truth while swimming in a world of lies than to just go shopping with all of the money she has. This woman never has to work another day in her life and does not need the grief that she will get for opposing the powerful and corrupt leaders in our government.

      Hopefully she can once again ignite the spirit of the American people to turn off Fox News and start marching in the streets with the babies and the grannies and the ordinary Americans whocan not stomach any more of the killing for oil and war profits.

I fear that an unstable mercenary will make her a martyr and Hollywood will be so happy to have two things: A dead Jane Fonda and a chance for all those self centered overpaid crybabies to be in the spotlight crying crocodile tears for Babylon Jane.
    These people who have made their careers in Hollywood live in a surreal closed society and have zero awareness of what the real world is like. When they expect to be taken seriously and think that they are leaders is when they reveal their true ignorance and lack of intellect.

      Ms. Fonda doesn’t strike me as very peaceful in her statements and behavior. Whether you agree with her or not, you have to admit that she says and does inflammatory things that make a lot of ordinary people very, very angry.

      Absolutely, dead on. It’s all so clear to me, which is why I can’t figure out why more people don’t understand what Bushco is doing—to his own people—and to the people of Afghanistan, Iraq, and others.

      What the western world must understand is that to varying degrees we are all responsible for what happens to people who are unfortunate enough to be born in lands with the very resources we want—not only want, but will take at any price—life, limb, and money (supplied primarily by the sheeple). That’s travasty enough, but to execute this horrific war under the pretext of spreading freedom and democracy is OBSCENE!!!!!

      Capitalism has been every bit a failure as communism. When in order to support a lifestyle of generous proportions we have had to spill the blood of our own and others, we have been abysmal failures as human beings. We in the west should be ridden with guilt for taking more than our fair share and leaving the rest of the world destitute.

The point is she has poured millions of her own money into anti-war movement activities. Here’s a woman who can afford to sit on her ass for the rest of her life and live most opulently. Instead, she chooses to use many of her own resources to do whatever she can to help the lot of others. I think she has more spunk than the vast majority of Democrats in Congress and more than all the Repukes.

  • Personally, I don’t give a crap about a washed up actress going on some tour for peace. I’m worried about this spurring a new Hippie movement, complete with people spitting on returning soldiers. Being a veteran of the war on terrorism, I have already experianced a bit of this Vietnam syndrome, having been spit on by a woman in a Delaware rest stop returning home on leave. People need to realize that their anger needs to be directed at the policymakers rather than the people fighting the fights. Shame on Jane Fonda.
