President’s photo-op may fool you, but not me

NEW ORLEANS, LA — (OfficialWire) — 09/04/05 — More than five days after it should have happened, thousands of storm victims in New Orleans and the surrounding area are finally being bused and airlifted to safety.

Because the Bush administration does not want to admit the truth, the public isn’t being told how many people were killed by Hurricane Katrina’s floods and how many more American citizens succumbed waiting to be rescued by their government. You may recall that after the December 26, 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami we got an almost hourly death-count from most news outlets-and so you should ask yourself what’s the difference?

Why did our government allow the people of New Orleans (oh, and by the way, please stop calling them refugees-they’re Americans, in America-not refugees1, unless you’re referring to them having to run from their government) suffer for nearly five days? Why, when our government knew in advance the danger and the potential for disaster if the levees failed?

The answer is that George W. Bush didn’t want to save the stranded in New Orleans. He wanted them to die. And the dying goes on. People are still dying-still waiting to be rescued.

Gov. Kathleen Blanco said Saturday that she expected the death toll to reach the thousands.

The overwhelming majority of those stranded in the post-Katrina chaos were those without the resources to escape-and, overwhelmingly, they were black. You need to ask yourself why Bush might not rush to their aid: Without trying to label anyone, it’s fairly well-accepted that as many as 90 per cent of blacks vote Democrat.

Tell me I’m wrong.

  • I agree with you. There isn’t any other excuse for his lack of action. But wait, watch for the new development of the area and HOLD THE PHONE, guess what? Haliburton has been awarded the contract to rebuild the coastline. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised.

  • As an article stated, by Robert Tracinski, most of the people were welfare people and those who were released from the jails. Those who were dealt lifes worst blows. Mr Tracinski states that it is not the President’s fault. Neither democrat or republican raised a hand to change the situtation. This proves to me that we have a Congress united to the same cause - ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT.

  • I’m telling you that you’re wrong, since you asked. Don’t get me wrong, I dislike Bush, and think his presidency has been a very negative thing for America. That being said, you make a very serious accusation with the title of this article, and then provide no substance whatsoever to back it up. Bravo for stooping to the same level as Fox News!

    • Actions speak louder than words. The proof is the extreme lack of organized help and refusing to let our own citizens help. If you need to see an actual video of a closed door meeting with the rest of the neocons discussing ways to lie, cheat, and murder our citizens before you will believe Bush to be the antichrist then I feel sorry for you. zorro

    • As for evidence a la Fox News, I would have thought that the dead bodies in the street, rats eating grandmothers and the total lack of George W. Bush would have been sufficient for you. Gee, it took 5 days for someone to pull their finger out of their backside and do something AND then only after considerable media attention. BTW, if this had been an actual emergency, what would have happened?

  • Actually, it’s the states responsibility then it becomes a federal responsibility. The GOVERNOR of Louisiana along with the correlating mayors should have been busing people out as soon as they discovered the hurricane was approaching that area. Or at least, have buses and food ready. It’s not the presidents fault that there was a delay, it’s the governors. She finally ordered 40,000 troops 2 days ago I think for rescue and humanitarian operations. Then, Bush sent an additional 7,000 I believe with 10.5 billion to start the rebuilding process.

    Yes, the census in New Orleans is mostly democratic but that would be stupid because Bush can’t even run again for presidency. This is his last term. What would he benefit? Think about it.

    • Actually, no one has seen him for quite some time. Any takers on the concept that he’s dead? As for if and when Dick become president, I don’t think his heart will take it. Next?

      A natural disaster of biblical proportions.

      Possibility of Cheney’s overdue demise.

      Bush brought to his knees by a grieving mother from California.

      I’d say God is alive and she is PISSED!

  • This is crazy. It depends on who you ask but for some reason I thought this was a Hurricane and that when you are told to leave, you leave. If you can’t leave, you have to understand that with any storm, no one can really know what is going to happen. To say that President Bush willing waited to send in help is just not true. In fact if you look at the total damage that the Hurricane did, how could anyone think that the relief was slow in getting to the people. Now if you decide to play the race card, you really don’t know what your talking about. This huge storm and the damage it caused has never happened before and we will be able to learn for this for the future. We don’t need finger pointing, we need hands reaching out to help. Jennifer, stop and think about it. How in the world can they tell how many have been killed until all the water goes away and the housed have been searched. As for the delay, you try to move all the supplies and personnal to effectly deal with the total damage that this storm caused. I guess you can believe what ever you want, but once again, when it is all said and done, the truth will come out. This is just to big to hide anything, The world is watching and the facts will come out.

    • FEMA should have made arrangements to evacuate or assist the people who could not leave either because they were old and frail or didn’t have the money it takes to leave your home for an indefinate period of time. That’s what they are there for.... BTW, the "M" stands for Management. What did they do?

    What we have experienced here in New Orleans stinks! It bears the odor of ethnical cleansing!

    Tell me why the National Guard did search the few belongings of the flood victims and took everything which looked new away from them! Also alcohol and cigarettes! Is this a way to treat citizens?

    To all on this board who are confirmed to Bush and the Government - you are guilty in the same way the Nazi population of Germany was!?

    • I could not agree with you MORE. Americans did not learn anything from Griffin’s book "Black Like Me" which was thought to have educated the Nation back 30 years ago.

  • I have not seen one word on here about the person actually running this country, KARL ROVE. He is the one scripting how and when the "President" (so called) handles this entire scenario as well as Rumsfeld and everyone else. If you have not noticed, he is right beside Bush everytime THEY have stepped off Air Force One in LA or MISS. They are not concerned about the color of the skin of the persons involved in this. They just have a general disdain for anything that does not smack of Corporate America from whence cometh their money, power and influence! They would trash a white person, yellow person, brown person, or green person if they got in the way of ANY of their agendas. And believe me, read your history, Rove has trashed careers of some people with quite a bit of money. Just this time he got to do a wholesale job of a lot of economically poor people in one fell swoop. Maybe this was the new Medicaid reform act via Bush aka Rove (I’m being silly now).

    Yes, maybe Blanco and locals could take some blame for the confusion which resulted out of this. But there is no way ANY state could have mounted a rescue effort of this size without Federal Aid and an organization like FEMA was supposed to be able to anticipate this. However, being led by a Rove appointed lawyer with no experience in emergency management, there was no way to expect anything but what happened even after they were involved. Bush aka Rove realized the mistake they had made and rushed to cover their proverbial asses by sending as many troops in as they could and making as many visits as they could and taking advantage of as many photo-ops as they could. They had already gutted the money from this organization and moved it under the auspices of DHS so that it is only a shadow if its former self.

    I’m not asking where is Dick Cheney. I want to keep my eyes open and watch Karl Rove and associates. He does not do his own dirty work. He always uses surrogates and it is very difficult to trace things back to him.

    This is not a RACE issue. This is a PEOPLE versus COPORATE AMERICA issue.
