The Cannabis Man - Not Guilty.

Following the results of an internet poll the Cannabis Man is happy to report that 86% of respondents found him Not Guilty of any crime.

Such a result has encouraged him further to outline his vision. The following is a transcript of a few of his ideas.

“As the Cannabis Man I firmly believe that what I do is right (In fact, after discussing my work and hopes with others, I can find no dissenting voice).
As is already known - I do not make any money from my work with cannabis. My desire is simply to ignite a real and sensible debate about a plant (NOT a drug - a PLANT). Such a debate far transcends talk of ‘highs’ or mere recreational smoking and must, by definition, expand to look at all the properties of this extraordinary gift from nature.

I ask for nothing but an opportunity to share years of knowledge; to pursue that knowledge further; and to use that knowledge to help.

The lack of debate about the plant is a national and international disgrace. I don’t believe that any population told the truth about this gift from God would ever again act with the narrow prejudice shown by our politicians. (And, let’s face it, you would struggle to name a politician who wouldn’t benefit from the occasional smoke).

First of all I want to add my voice to the millions of others out there and make a plea for cannabis to be authorised immediately for those suffering medical problems where it is indicated as beneficial.

Unfortunately medical use of cannabis seems to be one area which makes the authorities particularly nervous. Perhaps this is simply because they know what would happen if the public ever actually found out how beneficial this plant actually is. One thing they always seem to imply is that a nation of cannabis smokers would produce generations of indolent workers interested only in their next ‘fix’ and where the fridge is. I have little to say on this issue except to mention that I work seven days a week and work out five times a week..... Indolent, I ain’t.

How many people out there actually know that cannabis is proven to destroy certain kinds of cancer, or that it reduces pain in certain illnesses more quickly and effectively than any other drug, or that it is a substance that promotes the growth of new brain cells.

Probably the same number of people know the truth about the medical benefits as know that cannabis plants can produce a truly carbon neutral fuel (In other words you could be running your car on a completely clean fuel - the exhaust produces water and precisely the right amount of CO2 to allow the growth of the next crop). Cannabis is also an excellent food staple for livestock, produces superb, hard wearing natural materials and even the seeds can be ground down to make an excellent flour.

By the way, I have barely even scratched the surface of the possibilities of this remarkable plant and I beg you to look for yourselves - there’s plenty of info out there.

Then you can begin to ask the questions that so desperately need to be asked. Why is your government so paranoid about this particular ‘weed’ ... or why is cannabis banned from medical use when this is itself a serious breach of international law due to treaties that outlaw any government restricting access to proven medicines, of which cannabis is one.

So what of me in the grand scheme of things?

I want a research centre. I want the same status as the Duke of Northumberland who has a licence to grow all manner of restricted plants. I want the chance to share knowledge and try and make the world a better place. I want the chance to tell the truth of what I know.

I want a Government who will stand up and do something for the right reasons, one willing to seize the day.

I offer the chance to take a fresh view of a plant whose properties are so obvious that we will be laughed at by future generations who just won’t understand how we could be so stupid as to proscribe nature... and not just any bit of nature - This is the bit that can provide endless clean fuel, food, clothing, medicine.......”

Thanks for reading.

Bud Hayes.
