WHAT MANY PEOPLE DON’T KNOW

It is on the record that many of the GOP war hawks, that still insist war on Iraq was necessary, were draft dodgers. They sought deferments from military service until danger of losing blood or limb was over, or they joined a National Guard unit which rarely forced them to quit a job. So, with this vast military experience, most of the GOP Senators pontificate at length about war strategy, casualties, preemption, Shock and Awe, and about the merits of torture and abuse of whomever someone else made prisoner in some action they never would dream of participating.

George Bush, for instance, never went to Vietnam. In fact, he never got closer to the war than Abilene, Texas. His Daddy got him a commission in the Texas National Guard and he supposedly learned how to fly a plane. Even then nobody remembers serving with him in the National Guard as he seems to have gone AWOL, but somehow the National Press was very kind in forgetting to ask him about the details of his service.

Despite this, he seems to be of an expert opinion on the merits of torture and abuse of prisoners “in order to keep Americans safe.” This is a twisted kind of logic, certainly a twisted set of moral behaviors, and hardly to be held up to American school children for civic lessons in courage, or as an example of American values.

The Vice-President and Donald Rumsfield, are sanguinary people par excellence, devious in extreme, also draft-dodgers and devoted partisans of torture and abuse. When the Abu Ghraib affair broke they were indignant that somebody had the temerity to take pictures of broken Muslim bodies. They are indignant that their secret of having CIA jails in many foreign countries was leaked, but not that CIA jails are illegal, unethical or wrong.

They are also outraged that some people take pictures of Americans coming home in coffins, as they live in a fantasy world where nobody gets really hurt, but are the victims of pranks. Lately Cheney and Bush appeared at a Veteran’s Day celebration and lectured veterans on patriotism, honor and duty. Irony has no limits. They now are engaged in having everybody share blame in the ruination of the democracy they live in.

With the combined grand military experience of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, et al, they invaded Iraq without any plan other than Shock and Awe kill-em-all tactics. No entrance plan means no exit plan. Furthermore they were under the magnificent illusion that Iraq was the breeding ground of terror, having nuclear bombs and pilotless planes ready to wreak havoc on helpless ranchers in Crawford, Texas. This had to be stopped.

It was a dire “imminent” emergency in which mushroom clouds were envisioned to blot out the sky over parts of the U.S. They swore to it, night and day, on TV, Radio and on their favorite media. I’m sure you must have heard some of it, as it was on every channel for several months.

You probably heard George and Dick and Donald and Colin and Condi dancing their war dances, shouting ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLIDERS, muttering about crusades to their avid fundamentalist followers, and adopting heroic poses. Ashcroft joined them, singing hymns, to make sure that unpatriotic foreign-looking traitors would be punished, detained and never heard from again

By now George must have mentioned 9/11 about a thousand times, in connection with his heroic actions at that time. At one time he mentioned Osama bin Laden daily, and then suddenly he switched national attention to Saddam Hussein. Evidently there is some sort of distinction between EVILS in which one is paramount to another. He also mentioned “regime change” several hundred times, without realizing that “regime change” is a sword with two cutting edges and that it possibly cut him.

There is a great advantage to declaring a war. It makes one person a
WAR PRESIDENT and gives him a lot of powers that a PEACE PRESIDENT must be reluctant to use. It lets him strut and swagger like a military hero, to wear the uniform of a brave soldier, to award his cronies medals, and eventually to declare grandiosely MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Bush is uniquely suited to being a War President. It lets him bully whomever he pleases, do his “preemption’ wherever he wishes, go his way alone disregarding centuries of diplomacy and to disregard any consequences because of his egomania in which he denies any responsibility for anything.

He chose as his Ambassador to the U.N. probably the worst person in the world for the position, as he wishes to demolish the U.N. in favor of himself becoming Emperor of the World. In fact, as we look at his appointments, we see cronies without merit other than their connections or wealth, totally unsuited to administer a country, but their religion is right and their loyalty is true.

Karl Rove is a fine example of a royal sycophant with a penchant for slander.

Scooter Libby was caught with his fine hand on secret leaking but Bush is intensely loyal and disregards all that trivial stuff. Condi Rice goes around the world threatening Muslim countries, seeking an excuse for Bush to invade as soon as he gets free from the Iraq quagmire. Luckily Colin Powell had the good sense to bail out of the inferior position his plantation master put him in.

Bush does not seem to know that demolishing another sovereign country merits reprisal, revenge and other nasty traits that Bush calls “terror.”
He believes that when he kills all the Muslims the terror will stop. He does not believe that the presence of 150,000 foreign troops with heavy weapons, bombs, tanks, and planes, demolishing homes, terrorizing women and children, killing thousands of civilians is of any great concern.

Why would a person whose father and children were killed by American troops feel any resentment? Why would a person whose house was just destroyed by a bunker buster feel anger?

Why would an Iraqi walking on the street be shot in the head, because he didn’t understand English, get mad? Why would any Iraqi claim that giving their oil to Millennium Corporation is somehow wrong?

Why would anyone seeing their roads, factories and cities being destroyed gradually think that was not nice? Why would anyone counting over 20,000 Muslim dead, because Bush wanted to capture Saddam Hussein, express sorrow? Bush certainly does not seem to sympathize with any Iraqi over any sort of loss. After all, his cronies’ corporations are doing just fine, as are his mercenaries and highly paid contractors (who are also missionaries) to convert those filthy heathen.

Only a billion dollars is missing. What’s up with that? Get over it!

Everything is going along according to some plan.
