George Bush Is the Law

By Peter Fredson

December 17, 2005

For several years when I looked at the daily news I was shocked by the arrogance and egomaniacal activity of George W. Bush. Almost daily he would commit some outrage against American values, democracy, freedom, civil rights, or Constitutional protections.

All this is done under the guise of protecting Americans from Terrorists. All this is done under constant references to 9/11 which supposedly give GWB some extra-constitutional authority to commit outrages against Americans.

Revelations concerning his attacks on civil rights show his anti-constitutional stance. He is tremendously paranoid concerning his personal safety, so he has the greatest security force of any president. It would be difficult for a fly to land on him without some agent clubbing it to death. He thinks that criticism of his methods are treason, so all critics must be censored, manipulated, vandalized or disposed of.

He believes that Muslims hate democracy, freedom, liberty and repeats this belief at every opportunity although he seems to have very vague ideas of what democracy, freedom, and liberty mean. Although he has no idea how to protect this country nevertheless he has spent billions of dollars on crony bureaucrats who set up color schemes to tell citizens when to hide under their beds and when to go shopping. He evidently believes that, above all people, he was chosen by the Christian Old Testament Jahweh to fight EVIL, embodied in Saddam Hussein.

He has probably created more terror among his own citizens than any outside terrorist could.

From all the information we have gathered on his activity, it seems clear that he holds two major political beliefs: 1. He believes he is above the law. 2. He sometimes believes he IS the law.

I’m not sure if Bush believes he IS the law in the Biblical sense.

From The Essene Gospel of Peace, Book Two
“I am the Law, thy God, which hath brought thee out from the depths of the bondage of darkness. Thou shalt have no other Laws before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any image of the Law in heaven above or in the earth beneath. I am the invisible Law, without beginning and without end. Thou shalt not make unto thee false laws, for I am the Law, and the whole Law of all laws. If thou forsake me, thou shalt be visited by disasters for generation upon generation. If thou keepest my commandments, thou shalt enter the Infinite Garden where stands the Tree of Life in the midst of the Eternal Sea. Thou shalt not violate the Law. The Law is thy God, who shall not hold thee guiltless.”

The boundless egomania of Bush will probably not attempt to equate his lust for power with the Laws of His God, but who knows? I think the Bush idea is more like that of French King Louis XIV "I am the state." Of course, everyone knows what happened to him.

Or, as Napoleon supposedly said to the Senate in 1814: “What is a throne? - a bit of wood gilded and covered in velvet. I am the state- I alone am here the representative of the people. Even if I had done wrong you should not have reproached me in public-people wash their dirty linen at home. France has more need of me than I of France.”

The difference is that we do not need GWB. He could stay on his ranch at Crawford and life would go on smoothly without him or his unholy crew of neocon thugs.

Our Founding Fathers got rid of King George II, but now we have the equivalent of a George I as our President, a restoration of a 1700 conservative empire.

"Our country is at war, and our government has the obligation to protect the American people," said President Bush when in Panama concerning allegations the CIA was using KGB facilities in eastern Europe as torture chambers. "We are finding terrorists and bringing them to justice.... Anything we do ... to that end in this effort, any activity we conduct, is within the law. We do not torture."

In other words, anything I do as war president is legal, because I am the law, and if I authorize torture then it must be lawful.”

Both he and VP Cheney fought hard to keep torture in approved democratic and constitutional methods of our wonderful democracy. They said if they were kept from torturing that it would “tie the president’s hands”, disregarding the fact that they said they didn’t practice torture.

Little Condi Rice made a special trip to Europe, sporting new shoes and wardrobe and in her tiny seductive voice insisted that nobody tortured, nobody spied, nobody kidnapped, there were no surreptitious overflights as the administration hurried and scurried to empty the gulags and send the kidnapped people to safer countries.

Where are they now? Does any politician care to investigate or is it too much trouble?

Fortunately a few Republicans finally have had enough of deceit and lies and recently struck down the worst examples of torture, abuse, and violations of civil rights. But the imperial pretensions of the Bush cabinet persist.

Now we learn that the President himself secretly issued orders to bug the telephones of Americans. Anytime, anyplace, whenever his little heart so desired. This is definitely a violation of our constitution but his Republican friends will stick to the established practice of 1. Ignore it 2. Deny it 3. Change the wording 4. Trivialize it 5. Obfuscate it 6. Punish or Swiftboat the critics.

I wonder if there is anything the President might attempt, short of shooting some little orphan in the head on TV or kicking his dog on TV, that will not be vigorously defended by his loyal sycophants? But even then the FOX “reporters” could make it seem like a noble act.

Finally, for several days it has been reported that the President in his office, discussing Harriet Miers and the Patriot Act with top Republicans, and told he was violating the Constitution, replied angrily to the effect that “Don’t wave the Constitution at me. It’s just a goddam piece of paper.”

Somehow no major news media have reported this incident. No major reporter has investigated. No Republican politician has even mentioned it. That either shows tremendous fear, tremendous partisanship which would put party above country, or tremendous bribery of the media.

The President has twice stood in front of Congress, put his hand on the Bible, and before the Supreme Court Chief Justice sworn to uphold the Constitution with his life. If he has indeed disrespected and violated the Constitution then he must be given a “regime change.”

The problem is: can we trust anyone in the administration to speak the truth? Is anyone free of the seductive and evil Bush rhetoric? Is there anyone who does not believe the deceit, lies, misinformation, exaggerations, and tap dances around democratic legal obstacles? If there is, please stand up and expose all of the illegalities and violations that Bush has committed for the past 5 years.

Oh, and take little Condi Rice. Dick Cheney, and Karl Rove along to sworn testimony of an impartial investigating committee with subpoena power which will disregard all claims of secrecy and executive privilege behind which Bush has hidden for so long.

Who actually holds the power in a democracy, the people or a petulant irresponsible egomaniac? Is Bush exempt from legalities. Can he say legitimately: “I can do no wrong, because whatever I do is legal and right?”

Is Bush exempt from any court for war crimes for killing 30,000 or more Muslims in starting a war based on lies?

If Bush said the equivalent of "L’etat c’est moi." then perhaps we should sharpen up the blade of some guillotine in some museum. We know that Tom DeLay considers himself as equivalent to “the state.” Perhaps he can accompany GWB to the chopping block?

No, we do not torture, we do not spy on our own citizens, we do not kidnap, we do not fly surreptitiously captives into and out of sovereign countries, there are no gulags, we do not detain indefinitely without warrant or papers, we do not break into citizen’s homes without warrants, we do not look up librarians to see who is reading material we deem evil, we do not prohibit citizens from talking about FBI interrogations or searches, we do not wire tap anyone anyplace without due judicial survey, we do not handcuff and rough up people who bear signs criticizing GWB or wear emblems of opposition, we do not send cruise missiles against Al-Jazeera but only accidentally twice.

No, GWB doesn’t order anything like those violations of our Constitution because he redefines whatever he pleases to mean whatever he pleases.

For one thing, God approves of whatever GWB does. Case Closed.

  • I think the Bush idea is more like that of French King Louis XIV "I am the state." Of course, everyone knows what happened to him.

What happened to Louis XIV indeed? He died in his bed

    • I think they meant Louis XVI. You know, the French Revolution, and all that stuff...

    • As an athiest oppose many of the Bushes policies but do you believe that George Bush is such an immoral person that he would invade a country, start a war, and have people die, just so he can make money? Who started the War?IS THE WORLD AT WAR WITH ISLAM?
Definitely Not.IS ISLAM AT WAR WITH THE WORLD? OH, YEAH!
      I
like to believe there is good in people and that scenario sounds a little far-fetched. For 10 minutes, stop thinking of Bush as the worst person in the world and then reexamine the situation.

Why so much violence? Why terror in the name of Islam?

Some say Christians modernized; why can’t Muslims? There is a simple answer to that. The New Testament does not contain so much violence and terror as does the Quran. I donít think the Bible is factual. It is mostly myths and legends. Nonetheless, the Jesus of the Bible, even though mythical, is a saintly figure. He is the embodiment of goodness. So if you donít mind believing in fairytales, Christianity can make you a good person. Of course fanatics are everywhere but the message if Christ is not fanatical. Recall when the Pharisees brought a prostitute to him, asking him what to do with her! His response was: Let the one who has not sinned throw the first stone. If you really practice this teaching alone you will become a good human being. And isn’t this the purported purpose of religions?

But Islam is different. The author of Islam was a vile man. He is not a mythological figure. He really existed and his acts are recorded. Many ludicrous miracles are attributed to him but once you put aside all those nonsense and study this manís life, the portrait of a psychopath emerges. Muhammad was anything but saintly. There is not a single act of goodness in this manís entire life. Even his kindness and generosity were manipulative and politically motivated. Take the example of his largesse to the Meccans. He raided the big tribe of Hawazin, killed many of them, took away all their belongings and captured their wives and children. Their elders came to him supplicating for mercy. They brought along Shima, his milk-sister, the daughter of Halima who had nursed him for five years when he was a child to tell him about his childhood among them and to soften his heart. She reminded him how she used to carry him on her back and how tenderly her people took care of him. He told them if they convert to Islam they can choose between their loved ones and their property. Is that a choice? They chose their loved ones. Then Muhammad gave all the booty stolen from these nomads to the potentates of Mecca . Those higher in rank received more. Other tribes who had taken part in the war and had helped him win, protested. They asked for their share and were about to start a mutiny. He made a Imoving speech and said "I want to soften the hearts of the Meccans towards Islam and told those who had received nothing; You take the Prophet of God with you instead. Which you prefer? The wealth of this world or the messenger of Allah?î

This cunning man was a master of deceptions and manipulations. He ruined the lives of thousands of Hawazin, killed them and stole all their herds, camels, and properties and gave them to the wealthy Meccans to is often their hearts towards Islam. There is not a single episode in this man’s life that was done out of the goodness of his heart. Every act he performed was calculated and manipulative. He was a psychopath narcissist much worse than Hitler.

The difference between Christianity and Islam is in Jesus and Muhammad. This is the difference between day and night. Jesus was the symbol of goodness and Muhammad was the incarnation of everything that is abhorrent and evil.

Can Islam be reformed? No it can’t! To reform Islam you have to first get rid of Muhammad and second get rid of the Quran. You have to take out a great portion of that book. But this you can’t because you have no authority to do such thing. Muhammad said that he has perfected his religion. 5:3 How can you improve something that is perfect? You canít change the Quran. You canít reform it. All you can do is to reinterpret and pretend ìslay the unbelievers wherever you find themî means something else.

Or you can say these parts of the Quran are no more applicable. The problem is that who can decide which parts of the Quran are applicable and which parts are obsolete? Who has such authority to make this decision? If you rely on your own conscience and say the verses that call for murder are outdated, someone else like Khomeni could protest and say Why do you Mullahs only go after the ordinances of prayer and fasting? Why do you only read the Quranic verses of mercy and do not read the verses of killing? Quran says; kill, imprison! Why are you only clinging to the part that talks about mercy? Mercy is against God.

      FROM THE KORAN ITSELF...
"HEIL HITLER" Now Upgraded to "ALLAH AKBAR?"

You may already know about this one: O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. [al-Ma’idah 5:51.11]

But did you know that there are 123 verses in the Quran concerning fighting and killing for the cause of Allah? Here are but a few passages:

Muslims are encouraged to be wholly occupied (Sura 2:273) with fighting for Allah’s cause.

Allah will give "a far richer recompense to those who fight for him" (Sura 4:96).

Regarding infidels (unbelievers), they are the Muslim’s "inveterate enemies" (Sura 4:101). Muslims are to "arrest them, besiege them and lie in ambush everywhere" (Sura 9:5) for them. They are to "seize them and put them to death wherever you find them, kill them wherever you find them, seek out the enemies of Islam relentlessly" (Sura 4:90). "Fight them until Islam reigns supreme" (Sura 2:193). "Cut off their heads, and cut off the tips of their fingers" (Sura 8:12).

If a Muslim does not go to war, Allah will kill him (Sura 9:39). He is to be told, "the heat of war is fierce, but more fierce is the heat of Hell-fire" (Sura 9:81).

A Muslim must "fight for the cause of Allah with the devotion due to him" (Sura 22:78)

Muslims must make war on the infidels (unbelievers) who live around them (Sura 9:123).

Muslims are to be "ruthless to unbelievers" (Sura 48:29).

A Muslim should "enjoy the good things" he has gained by fighting (Sura 8:69).

A Muslim can kill any person he wishes if it be a "just cause" (Sura 6:152).

Allah loves those who "fight for his cause" (Sura 61:3).
Anyone who fights against Allah or renounces Islam in favor of another religion shall be "put to death or crucified or have their hands and feet cut off alternative sides" (Sura 5:34).

Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him. Sahih Al-Bukhari (9:57)

Slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush. (Koran 9:5)

Take him and fetter him and expose him to hell fire. (Koran 69:30-37)

I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them. (Koran 8:12)

They should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides. (Koran 5:33)

Know that paradise is under the shades of swords. Sahih al-Bukhari Vol 4 p55

      And Speaking of Paradise...

"There will be "gushing fountains" and everyone "shall recline on jeweled couches face to face, and there shall wait on them immortal youths with bowls and ewers and a cup of purest wine." Suras (or chapters) 55 and 56 of the Quran.

"Therein are bashful virgins whom neither man nor jinnee will have touched before ... virgins as fair as corals and rubies," sura 55. A few lines later, you might remind them of "virgins chaste and fair ... they shall recline on green cushions and fine carpets."

"The smallest reward for the people of Paradise is an abode where there are 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine, and ruby, as wide as the distance from Al-Jabiyyah [a Damascus suburb] to Sana’a.’"

It will be the day, God willing, you spend with the women of paradise...Know that the gardens of paradise are waiting for you in all their beauty, and the women of paradise are waiting, calling out, "Come hither, friend of God."

  • Hey its time to let the CAT OUT OF THE BAG... The ENTIRE MIDDLE EAST and ALL MAJOR OIL PRODUCING REGIONS Will have pipe lines going to the "HOMELAND" and from their — THOSE in the HOMELAND will PRICE FIX the OIL in the NEW York Oil investment houses SO they can drive the ECONOMY of the US, CANADA, EUROPE, and a GOOD part of South America from A SINGLE ENERGY RESOURCE COMMODITY. In this way not only oil but all industries that depend on oil will be in the power of the Elite Bankers and they will the place a ID chip system in place after which they will dismantle the governments and will create a borderless mass area of slave countrys under the guise of a New World Order and will barter transfer labor, resrouces, and energy on a whim between slave regions and make the Neo-God-corporations supported by this essentially the modern NOBLE class and the entire rest of the world the techno slaves and the labor slaves... Using the implants which will have a termination feature which is being hidden in the implant any dissdents of malcontents will "SUDDENLY get ill" and DIE, and with the latest in MIND CONTROL they will be able to detect Infered levels to detect anger, discontent and other emotions and thus we all will be part of a modern techno slave society led by pedophiles , murderers, and techno freaks all willing to DO what they must to AVOID being herded into CLASS of SLAVES which will have no rights or personality traits other than their functions. Average life span before "in body" chip termination will be 30 years or less to allow for new younger less educated slaves to come on line and ensure no historical truth is passed from one generation of slaves to the next.. And without a history of what is happening this can be perpetrated forever.

simply put. They are inSANE. And they are failing that is WHY they NEED all these PROTECTIONS like a LOW ECONOMY and the PUKE-face Patriot rACKET to help their little plan along... but hey when the troop begin to wake up.. which is NOW... then lets see what happens ... WHEN its OVER and they come back to a massive ECONMIC COLLAPSE and CORRUPTION.. I AM SURE all those men that KNOW how to USE a GUN are going to "SUPPORT the TROOPS"!

  • AS an American citizen, I am glad we are fighting the Islamofascists in Iraq, the US, Afghanistan and the rest of the world.

You will find that this surveillance will be found to be legal.

And in fact, you will find, if you care to look, that your own government does the same thing. So, stop being hypocrites.

When you have a better solution, then let us all know.

Start with convincing bin Laden that you don’t want to be like him.

    • To 68.100: It is with great consternation that I must convey this message to you, but son, you’re the fascist, the anti-war movement is definitely not. Go to the nearest dictionary, that is if you have any at home, and read the definition for fascism, since you obviously don’t know what it means. Any idiot who still believes in this godless administration is a fascist, since he openly supports a fascist foreign policy.
As for having better solutions, my inexperienced, uneducated fellow ’citizen’ with the sad excuse for a mind, anything is better than the tyranny of this demented Texan you worship. Or do you call tyranny a solution? Do you call mendacity and corruption a solution? Do you call the erosion of our civil liberties a solution? Do you call genocide a solution? If you answer yes to all the preceding questions, you are indeed a fascist. End of story.
All surveillance of law abiding ciitzens is illegal, but you wouldn’t know about that since you’re as ignorant of your own rights as you are of current events.
And finally, you disgusting and transparent thug, you are the hypocrite on top of being a cowardly chickenhawk. People like you are the last to be found in any battle, the first to turn away from defending freedom, the first to blanche and panic. Killing Muslims is alright with you as long as there are young people who will do the fighting for you, but the US military has found out that there are less and less of these youths to be recruited, since most of them are finally waking up to this lawless and immoral war. Fighting for freedom begins at home, not in the Third World, you cowardly hypocrite. If you wish not be called a cowardly hypocrite, then put your money where your mouth is, pick up a rifle, enlist and go straight to Iraq, and find out for yourself what it means to die for a lie.

    • Start with convincing bin Laden that you don’t want to be like him.

You’ve just convinced me that you already are.

Bush’s program is not much different from bin Laden’s - allow an elite minority to hoard all the wealth of our nation, encourage our young people to die in pointless conflicts the elite creates, destroy America’s prosperity and the respect we once had from other nations, and wipe out our Constitution.

We have given bin Laden everything he wanted. Or, rather, George Bush has given it to him. He’s the Appeasement President.

And you’re prepared to support him while he does it. Congratulations.

    • >You will find that this surveillance will be found to be legal.>

Just where should we look to "find" this? Not in the Constitution, to be sure. Perhaps there’s a secret presidential "finding" that W has tucked away in his desk. Or maybe John Yoo penned a memorandum for the Justice Department to this effect.

For the record, James Madison never attempted to overturn civil liberties on such a scale when Washington was invaded and the White House burned; Theodore Roosevelt never invoked such powers when the president was shot by an anarchist terrorist; even Abraham Lincoln never took such steps when the Union was fighting for its survival (620,000 dead, not 3000)—Congress authorized his emergency powers and half of them clamored that he was too lax.

Look, democracy is not for everyone. I can understand that. Some people feel more comfortable in a dictatorship. Evidently you’re one of them. No problem—just don’t claim that such activity is "legal."
