I walk these quiet empty streets like a post-apocalyptic omega man surrounded by quiet and empty stores and houses. Past the fast food joints still not busy even at dinnertime and car washes not busy on a beautiful Saturday morning. I fell into some money this week and thought I’d celebrate by going down to the sport’s bar about a mile from the garage and watching some college football.
I told my son where I was going and he screwed up his face and asked, (...)

America: a walking dead-zombie country
Freitag, 20. August 2010 00:23 von Lars Schall
The high-profile financial pundit Max Keiser doesn’t shy away from crystal-clear, unmistakable statements. The following exclusive interview is no exception. Mr. Keiser sees an attack exercised against the majority of people in the U.S., sets out why gold is in no bubble at all, points at a remarkable move by the Harvard University, and has an advice to some US-American billionaires disguised as (...)

Island of Shame
by Murray Polner
Review of David Vine’s Island of Shame: The Secret History of the U.S. Military Base on Diego Garcia (Princeton University Press, 2009)
Why should anyone care about 5,000 part-African, part-southern Indian Chagossians, who once inhabited Diego Garcia, a remote island in the Indian Ocean mid-way between Africa and Indonesia, who were exiled so the U.S. could build yet another military base?
Since the onset of WWII and its aftermath, tens of millions (...)

Non-combat US troops in Iraq engage in combat
by Boris Volkhonsky
Global Research, September 6, 2010 Voice of Russia
On September 5, US troops were called in by Iraqi authorities to help combat insurgents who attacked an army base in Baghdad. There were no casualties among the American military and the whole incident would hardly be worth mentioning be it not for the fact that American participation in combat took place only five days after the widely advertised pullout of all US combat (...)

Is the US becoming a Third World Country?
Global Research, September 6, 2010 Press TV
During recent years, the gap between the rich and poor has increased at a staggering pace, systematically wiping the existence of the middle class from America. The United States is on the brink of sliding down to a Third World country, as it struggles with massive debts, rising unemployment and a deteriorating economy.
Some of the warning signs that indicate America’s fantastic fall from a First (...)

(http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/newsroom/20...). It lists the agenda for the joint hearings being held with the Department of Treasury September 14-15, 2010 on what is euphemistically called “lifetime income options for retirement plans.” The hearings are being conducted by the Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security (...)

VIDEO: Pentagon’s Half-Billion-Dollar PR Budget to Sell Afghan War
by grtv
$547 million. That’s the Pentagon’s P.R. budget. They’re using it to spread mistruths and misplaced hope in ‘progress’ with one goal in mind: to extend the brutal, costly Afghanistan War.
General Petraeus’ media blitz is only the tip of the iceberg in the Pentagon’s effort to sell war to the American people. The Defense Department has a budget of more than $500 (...)

The Imperial Anatomy of Al-Qaeda. The CIA’s Drug-Running Terrorists and the “Arc of Crisis” Part I
by Andrew Gavin Marshall Global Research, September 5, 2010
Introduction As the 9th anniversary of 9/11 nears, and the war on terror continues to be waged and grows in ferocity and geography, it seems all the more imperative to return to the events of that fateful September morning and re-examine the reasons for war and the nature of the stated culprit, Al-Qaeda. The (...)

When Quantitative Easing Has Run Its Course and Fails
by Matthias Chang Global Research, August 31, 2010 Future Fast Forward
Readers of my articles will recall that I have warned as far back as December 2006, that the global banks will collapse when the Financial Tsunami hits the global economy in 2007. And as they say, the rest is history.
Quantitative Easing (QE I) (...)

Bankrupt Miami in Fiscal Emergency, Breaks Employee Contracts, Hikes Property Taxes
Mike "Mish" Shedlock | Aug. 31, 2010 Miami is bankrupt. Unfortunately the city refuses to admit it. In an enormously foolhardy attempt to make ends meet, in spite of the fact that Miami home prices have been hammered and 1-in-8 are unemployed, the County keeps pouring on the painful tax and fee increases.
As you recoil from your tax warning notice today, ponder this: those multiple tax hikes aren’t (...)

Labor Day and the Easter Bunny
By :
David Glenn Cox - Friday September 3, 2010
Monday is Labor Day, a national holiday in America that’s come to be as meaningless as the Easter bunny. It is a holiday that millions of Americans struggled to bring into existence. Hundreds more died or were maimed or beaten, they were bloodied but they were not bent. They were shot at by national guardsman, policeman, sheriffs and hired thugs but were not turned back. They were turned out of their company houses during snowstorms. They had firehoses turned on them in subfreezing (...)

The Bull

In the 1933 Paramount motion picture “Tillie and Gus”, W.C. Fields said:
“There comes a time in the affairs of men, when we must take the bull by the tail, and face the situation.”
The term “motion pictures” is rather archaic nowadays, but there’s nothing archaic about W.C.’s insightful wisdom—almost 80 years ago spinning a clear image of precisely where we are in 2010. Indeed, ours is a confusing time of wars over fossil energy, (...)

Video: Activists Stage “Peace Charade” at White House
By :
William Hughes - Wednesday September 1, 2010
On September 1, 2010, at noon, in front of the White House, Human Rights activists staged a “peace charade” skit. Its purpose was, according to their press release, to serve as a theatre parody of the “farce masquerading as [Mideast] peace talks,” currently being conducted by the U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Palestine’s Mahmoud Abbas and Israel’s “Bibi” Netanyahu. Medea Benjamin, co-founder of CODEPINK, was the leader of the (...)

Mister President,
Last August 13th, nineteen mountain climbers from the Southwest of France scaled the highest summit of our Basque-Bearn Pyrenees, the Auñamendi Mountain (2,504 m).
We were demanding, by this symbolic act, in the name of their many friends in our region, the liberation of five Cubans – (...)

The summer heat is fading and it brings a welcome relief but also a worrisome fear that the winter cold is right behind it. Each season brings with it a different set of problems each inverse of the other but still mainly the same. The changing season is making me angry because it marks the passage of time and I am still here. I’m still living in this nasty fetid little room hiding out like Anne Frank and dreaming of a job in concentration camp America.
While I (...)

Withdraw the Last Combat Politicians from Washington
By :
David Swanson - Wednesday September 1, 2010
Pretending to end a war and occupation, while stationing 50,000 soldiers, 18,000 mercenaries, and 84,000 support contractors in massive and permanent military bases in Iraq is a far cry from what candidate Barack Obama described as ending "the mind-set that got us into war in the first place." It fits better with Nobel Peace laureate Obama’s description of war as "not only necessary but morally justified."
Over the past 20 years, the United States has imposed on Iraq two intense (...)

This second quarter’s fundamental event about to shove most players’ anticipations over the coming months, is certainly the final and simultaneous failure of the two key-strategies defined by US leaders, i.e.:
. in the economic, financial and monetary fields, the Fed’ policy initiated a year ago when M3 publishing was abandoned and aimed at (...)

Drugs, Money and Central Banks
30.08.2010
“The central banking-warfare investment model” is really a control model, through which a small group of people can control the most resources on the most profitable basis. Essentially what happens is: Central banks print money and then the military makes sure that other parties accept it and that the financial system continues to have liquidity. Catherine Austin Fitts is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and the (...)
