It just highlights how ridiculous the notion of any ’religion’ is. All based on myths, mystique, with a vague promise of an afterlife. A glorious fulfilling to an empty existence, which when threatened with the truth, leads to shock and tantrums.
This is why parents withold the unreality of Santa Claus form their children.
Apealing to the inadequate and uneducated, religion has been used by the powerful as a pacifier, control tool and income generator.
Much of the demise of Christianity was seeded in our ’Age of Enlightenment’, the triumph of reason and science over mumbo jumbo hearsay, and rambling fictitious doctrine. Islam has had no such reality check.
Thats not to say the cartoons should be endorsed. Insensitive and provocative that leaves the Neocons inwardly smiling. The media have chosen to focus on the hostile reaction, ignoring the counter demonstrations by so called ’moderate Muslims’ who want to debate the Danish scribblings.
Islam would do better to use this media spotlight to bring Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya -and the hundreds of thousands of deaths.
