Thank you Bellaciao for deleting the hateful messages that were submitted in reply to this article. I found this article very moving and relevant, and to focus on nonsense, as some commentators were doing, clearly dilutes the message. I hope that changes are made to such mascots and nicknames. I guess even if one wants to put the argument in "Christian" terms, would one want their race and/or beliefs ridiculed in the same way that these nicknames and mascots and/or the reaction to them, ridicule Native-Americans.
