Power Manipulators

17 September 2005, 22:34

Fear is a great motivator. There are clearly masters of public manipulation in power now. They have no qualms about people dying off to keep power in their hands. If Katrina victims die unnecessarily, it’s no more than collateral damage to the power elite. Just like our dead boys in Iraq, Katrina victims will be used as political capital, then discarded. Bush’s reaction to Cindy Sheehan shows just how much he cares about the war dead. Maybe with New Orleans closer, and the press involved, we can get through to the American people through Katrina.

I applaud the concern of the people posting, but please keep the comments from degenerating into baseless accusations. There are literally thousands of examples of Bush wrong-doing: cronyism (Brown/Albaugh), ineptitude, economic short-sightedness, fiscal responsibility, racism, and poverty creation. We don’t need to get creative. We need to stick to talking points that are uniform across the board. That’s what Bush & Co. have done, to great effect.

If we fight, we need to appeal to the majority in open and rational dialogue, unlike the powers that be, whose use secrecy and snappy slogans to gloss over deeper problems. Evidence of wrong-doing has been laid bare by Katrina. It’s our job to exploit the consequences. Unlike them, we do it to prevent additional loss of innocent lives and block a wicked Administration from doing more harm. The power brokers in Washington will use the loss of life as a method to gentrify the city, plunder our national treasury (selling to the Chinese), and get money to Halliburton, Big Oil and other favored companies.

This may be the last chance for the American people to learn about what Bush has been doing to our country...
