By Peter Fredson
January 10, 2007
Ever since the elections of November 2006, George Bush has struggled against reality by immersing himself in a “listening” frenzy with his ears turned only toward advice coinciding with his own flawed judgment. Now, it seems he has come up with a plan to ensure victory and success in Iraq.
From all indications he is going to let the Iraqis take the blame. That is, provided the Iraqis are grateful to Bush and his neocons for (…) -

Federalism: A Solution More for Israel than for Iraq
9 January 2007By Nicola Nasser*
Revealing both the double standards of U.S. policies and the propaganda-oriented Israeli advocacy of “minority rights” in the Arab world, the U.S.-allied Iraqi Kurdish and sectarian leaders reacted angrily to James Baker-Lee Hamilton report because it recommended what they perceived as a possible American retract from federalism in Iraq and the Israeli Jews condemned as a catastrophic declaration of war an Israeli Arabs’ “future visions” because those visions could lead (…) -
The European Constitution: 2007 and the Great Trial of Strength
9 January 2007A position statement by Francis Wurtz, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and president of the Confederal Group of the United European Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL)
"The year 2007, especially during its first half, weighed heavily in the struggle to determine the direction of a future European treaty. Tell A Friend
The image of Cindy Sheehan’s arrival in Cuba, followed by Medea Benjamin, Tiffany Burns, Adele Welty and Ann Wright, these good, honest Americans who happen to believe in integrity and who happen to get it right, evokes for me so many memories of my own mother, an American woman, tall of stature and of humble heart who lived in Eastern Cuba, the Cuba I left through those very gates of that very Jose Martí International Airport some 49 years ago.
